hi, i got told by student finance that they will not be funding me for last 3 years of my pharmacy course . i cant take their loans or anything else from them . please help i need help to cover course and travel cost (£270 a month). i dont think i can cpe wid it. the reason they said not funding me cos i have already studied for 3 yrs at uni and maxium they help is 4 yrs
i thpought we would get funded by nhs cos were doingb health related course or am i wrong?

No NHS bursaries for pharmacists, I'm afraid.

Ask your uni about any bursaries you may be eligible for. Bank loan maybe? If you can't find funding, you could always take the year out, get a proper job and come back afterwards.

I don't quite get why they won't fund you, have you done a previous degree?

after college i studied one degree for one year then left that degree as there was no future in it, i then went to another degree where i did a foundation year. I then left that degree as i wanted to study pharmacy. I have now got a place in pharmacy and the studen loan coompany say they not funding me for the first two years of the degree. And my university are saying im too late to apply for bursary so no help from them. i need to cough up £3145 x 2 = £6290 Plus travel cost which is £250 * 8 (months study) = £2000 , so i have to make myself £10000 for 2 yrs to study. How the hell am i able to pay for that, wat if i fail one year i cant cope with this. All this hard work got me nowhere, looks like im not getting educated!!!!!!!! got to get a crappy sales job 9-5, why the hell are the fees gone so ridiculously high that makes it impossible for a poor student from a poor background impossible to get educated at university. POOR WILL STAY POOR RICH WILL GET RICHER. I cant believe it theres no F'in help available . I was soo into pharmacy aswel especially this 2 weeks ago as i was getin more work experiance. Student loans company shuld consider people make wrong choices at uni cos its their first time they shouldnt give help for max 4 years it just ridicoulous!!!
seriously i dont understand this i cant simply afford to be educated, and they spending Billions of pounds on the stupid F'in 2012 olympics when they should be Inputting into the education system!!!"!! i am sooo peeved off!!!.

Surely you'll have loads of student debt already if you've done 2 degrees before this?

They don't have unlimited pots of money. And why should they keep giving you money for living costs/tution fees because you've not made up your mind what you want to do?

To be fair, if you've already taken two degrees and THEN discovered what you wanted to do, it may simply be a case of tough luck. =/ The government can't fund people to do year-long tasters in every course till they find one that suits them.

Defer your uni place, apply in time for the bursary next year, work for the year and save up as much as you possibly can, work part time once you get to uni.
I'm fairly sure you can still get the maintenance loan too, and uni's have hardship funds to help out students who are struggling financially.

ty all for responses, I understand that im not special and i agrreee they should not hand unlimitied amount of money as evrything should have limits. I just didnt expect them to stop the tuition loans as you have to repay them back. hmm i can still get maintanance loan? student finance tols me im not elegible to recieve anythign from them for 2 years. ill do more research into that ty. I know it may not seem alot to people but coughing up £5k for 1 year is not easy for me especially by september. Is there any bank which gives loan where u dont have to pay until u get a job?

That must be a real blow. The government pulled funding for second degrees a while ago. Before that you could get finance for more than one degree. I'm not sure what to suggest really. Could you approach pharmacutical companies for sponsorship?

You might be able to get a career development loan? if not, then you'll probably have to take a year out and work to save up money.

right ok - first of all how far away is your course £250 is alot for travel over a month
could you do the degree part time - maybe and get a job either one that would give relevent experiance or that would pay well - i know people dont like call centres but it tends to be better paid

or take a year out work your ass off - and save loads - there are people on here who have never had a student loan

and also it will make sure that this is something that you will definatly stick too
