to those who got in, did you feel that your interview had gone badly?

cos mine (the subject one) did (2 weeks ago)

hey, many people, who think their interveiws had gone badly, got in.
so be optimistic

Just forget about it there's nothing you can change anyway. Whatever will be, will be! I've heard people say how crap their interview was and how they got a question completely wrong and they still got in. So keep hoping - hope you got in!

Must admit I liked Nicky's story of taking ten minutes full of prompting to realise that a ball makes a noise when dropped

At least it is over! Though I guess you could wish you could do it again.

i thought that although my interviews were not perfect, they were pretty close to the best i could have possibly done, hence if i had been rejected, i probably would have coped with the fact that i just wasnt good enough!
Reply 6
I initially didn't see much wrong with my interview, but they only lasted 8 and 12 minutes. I thought that they let me go early ...so it was either a very good, or a very bad thing! Needless to say, I had a nervous 2 weeks post interview!
Reply 7
I felt fairly indifferent about mine - I knew there were some things I'd done well on and some I'd been a total muppet over, and I just didn't know whether or not I'd been good enough to get in.

After my Interview last year I knew I hadn't got in.
So I was very surprised when I got an offer!

mmm I think my first one was probably the worst they'd seen, and I got in on the merits of my second one.

this thing have me VERY confused, people say that most people feel they did crap on their interview got a place, this made me kinda unsure as to whether feeling i did well in my interview would mean i may have got a place or if i feel my interview was bad means i got a place.

i wish everyone who got in felt bad about their interviews , cause i ll certainly not feel good about mine

Sorry Nicky  But that's just the kinda thing I would have done
Then gone "Aaaaaaaaaah! I get it now!" in a really excited voice

Yeah! Of course, I didn't do that either. Not at all. Ahem.

Freddy - you really can't tell! Most of my friends thought theirs went badly; a few thought it went OK. Don't know of anyone who was sure it had gone really well, though I'm sure there are some. Best not to try and work out how it's gone as you'll probably guess wrong!

I know someone who moonwalked down the corridors of Robinson College after his, but he's just strange!

Maybe best policy is the pessemist view? - just forget about it, don't expect anything. Then if you get in, you'll be over the moon. If you don't, you won't go kill yourself, you know? But personally since I'm doubting so much about Cambridge now, I'm not sure I care that much anymore. Doubtless I'd be devastated when I do get rejected, but atm I'm a bit passive about it all :frown: but the passivity is probably gonna vanish as soon as I start reading for Cambridge cus then the drive will kick in and I'd be all over the place stressing and panicking :frown: But I'm expecting a rejection anyway, and thinking that's probably the best thing... so I guess I'll be disappointed, but won't be committing suicide  lol

And if I get in, I'd be over the moon. Then I'd settle and come back to earth and begin to realise the complications that it then brings and then become all confused and depressed again

this depends, due to quantum fluctuation you have many (infinite) possible futures by breaking down the correct wavefunction...

I agree, but save that attitude for after the interview.
For the actual thing, I want to "not care" enough to be confident...
-but not so far that you don't seem enthusiastic! That'd be low.

By the way, I rang up Bristol today to ask them why they'd rejected me without an interview...
Well, it turns out they don't do an interview for my subject any more, so that's something

But it's not good.
...despite saying "well, you're certainly qualified", they blathered on for a few minutes and I ended up thinking they were completely useless. The best they came up with was that I "didn't mention the areas we specialised in"... being political philosophy and science. So I pointed out that I highlighted political philosophy in my PS, and that their prospectus made no mention of Bristol's specialites, either. So in the end she said "We don't get any direct feedback from them, maybe they wanted something really obvious? Sorry."
*Shambles*.

An interview would have been nice, really-
after having one at Southampton, I got a letter saying my offer had been reduced to three 'E's!
