Sup? So any current students willing to post how much they spend in a year? I know it's subjective, but in terms of rent/general food cost etc, would be a big help.
also: do tesco/ocado/whatever deliver to individual rooms in halls? I guess planning a menu for the week is the cheapest way to eat, and internet shopping doesn't give you such an opportunity to impulse buy crap.
I'll be honest - I never really worked out exactly how much it costs because my parents living an hour way brought a lot of things like food for me.
Regarding deliveries... I know that two years ago you couldn't get deliveries HOWEVER I could have swore I saw a van delivering last year. However I think it does vary from company to company. I lived off campus last year and Tesco delivered to my flat which was literally two minutes away from the main campus. But like I said I don't know if this is still true.
However there is a tesco's in Egham, and it is probbaly the only walkable store to get all of your food needs (there is one other but its LOTS smaller and I can't remember the name... might be a Budgens... can't be sure though). Just be careful not to buy two much or you won't be able to carry it back! So either be careful what you buy or bring a friend!!!
I spent about £40 a week on living expenses, so not including rent and tuition fees, but including bills (water, gas, electricity, internet, telephone, so obviously not something to worry about it your first year), books, food and a trip to london once a week, sometimes more.
£50 on food 1st week, then £10 on food for the next 2 weeks, i would say £50 on booze a wk, those were my 2 main spends, everything else was pennies or one offs. if u have to you can live off £20 a week, like wise i have managed to spend £200 in a week

£10 on food in a week... I don't think I could do that. Sheesh.

you didnt read the whole sentence, £50 the 1st week, meaning lots of food left over, the £10 the next 2 weeks is just for fresh stuff, so in all £70 ish over 3 weeks
How much does an average meal that includes food and a drink cost?? Thanks!
There really isn't an average - meat dishes cost more than vegetarian and a fizzy drink will be more expensive than a carton of juice! Also, sometimes you will get a nice person on the check out who doesn't charge you for everything.

*wipes sweat from brow* I guess that's more doable. On a slightly off topic note, is there a butcher's in Egham?
Thanks. That's a shame, Egham looked like the kind of place that'd have an independent butchers. Thank-you for the information I'll check out Englefield Green.

I'm afraid Egham is full of charity shops, restaurants and estate agents. Typical commuter town

I've noticed that the way some of the canteen staff dish up your food do it so that something gets covered e.g. my omelette used to get covered up by my chips, so I'd only pay for chips, lol. Don't think they meant to do this though.
