Re: Anyone for Social Psychology or Social Sciences?
I do social psychology and have really enjoyed it so far (just going into my second year). I think it's quite a gentle introduction to the core areas but seems to be rather heavy on assignments when compared with straight psychology (although it doesn't feel like you get overloaded). Lecturers are all great, really friendly and down-to-earth if you need any help - I had preconceptions about lecturers being a bit high and mighty but it's not like that at all.
All I'd say is put some thought into which modules you pick, I took Crim and Social Policy (the SP bit was a bit slow) and Sociology which, after not doing it at A level, went over my head a little but I still did alright lol. I wish i'd read a bit more into what they entailed.
Oh and don't spend a fortune on textbooks, chances are you'll use them VERY little. They wanna get you away from using the big textbooks as soon as possible so maybe just buy a useful generic Social Psyc book (they'll give you some recommendations) second-hand from Amazon or ebay. Or from me...as I have a few that are now useless :op
