I'm thinkling of taking either an AEA or STEP paper in mathematics, to boost my chance of getting into imperial. I was wondering of the differences between the 2: i.e which is harder?, better etc.

From what ive heard AEA is harder than STEP although they both have the same percentage pass rate. However what you have to consider is most people taking STEP want to go to somewhere like Cambridge, Imperial or Warwick and so In general (im not saying always before everyone screams at me) are likely to be more intelligent. This means i think you are more liekly to pass an AEA as loads of people take these. Im doing both this year and theres people in my college getting Ds who want to do an AEA where as im doin STEP but only the top people in general are doin that. Infact I think im the least intelligent person doin it Also im applying to Imperial so i suppose your my competition lol. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide
