    Sti test
Where do i get one? Can i just ask at my GP?

and do they test for everything or do i have to specify what to test for or something?

I'm 18 and have had unprotected sex with quite a few people, I'm pretty sure all these girls are clean since most have been virgins or have only slept with one other person who was a virgin... but just want to make sure

Is there a website that has a list of local GUM clinics? I'm having trouble finding one near me.
There's a search tool on the NHS website, you can search sexual health services by postcode and then refine it to sti testing/contraception/pregnancy testing etc.

Ok, so I have a kind of itchy rash thing (sort of like the skin is a bit raw) kind of behind my vagina. I know it's not an sti as I have been tested recently and have not had sex snce then. I have tried putting on canesten cream which kind of helps temporarily but doesn't seem to have any effect in the long run. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be/ how to treat it?

It sounds a little like thrush that will need internal treatment, ie a pill or a pessary, tho it could be something else so its best to go to a doctor or a nurse if you feel more comfortable with that.

    Re: Cervical cancer jab???
    i've had it.
i read something about people having died from it. it was a whole webpage devoted to so-called conspiracies against womeon. it said that pregnant people who had it miscarried their babies. but they don't actually give the jab to pregnant women (and they generally give it to people who havent already had sex) so it was a load of ********.

it was fine, 3 jabs over 6 months. slightly painful, the 2nd one made me throw up but apart from that i wasn't ill at all.
if you get the choie (i didn't) get guardasil (the Merc one) not Cervarix (the Glaxo one) as it also guards against other strains of HPV (ones responsible for genital warts), and not just the cervical cancer ones.

you won't die. where on EARTH did you hear that?

    Re: Cervical cancer jab???
    i just found the article.
it was quite good, for the daily mail. if you notice it didnt actually say that the girls had died from it, no causal link had been established between the jab and their deaths.

so why would you think that they had died FROM it?

    what a load of bullcrap

Potentially you can die from any jab they give you - But the chances are so slim that they're possibly not even worth measuring.

Really upset & worried about Smear Test.
    Hi.

I know this might sound really silly but i'm getting really worried about having a Smear test done. I have been waiting for the doctors to send me a letter to remind me to make an appointment to have one done. I am 22 now and lost my virginity at 19. I found out today from the girls at work that apparantly I need to ring them to make an appointment, then after that they send me reminders.

They said it's uncomfortable but i'm pretty sure that means it's gonna hurt. I literally can't take any pain whatsoever and pretty much think i'm gonna die or something when I give birth in years to come when I want kids. Anyway they said they put like a metal clamp thing inside you and then wind it up to open the cervix. How wide do they open it exactly?? Cos it sounds pretty painful especially as I won't be lubricated or anything like I would be before sex, would it open any wider than the width of a penis?

Also, sorry about all these questions, i'm a bit scared/embarassed cos i'm not like completely shaven down below and i'm worried the metal thing will catch my hairs and pull them when the nurse takes it out!!! Ouch!

Lastly, I do have a lump on one of my outer lips. I have had it for years and years since I was little. It's not hard all the time, it's like a blood pocket I believe as when it's hard, I squeeze it and it's like there's fluid inside it draining out but most of the time it's just like part of the lip. My mum says it's a birthmark. I had a tumour on the side of my head about 8 years ago which was removed which I think was also a birthmark or so she says but I don't want this lump down below removed, it causes me no problems whatsoever and if it was cancerous or anything I would of had symptoms by now my mum has said.

I just don't want them to panic cos it's really nothing to worry about!

Sorry but please help, I just wanna cry! I hate being a woman now!

Well about the hair thing, why not just trim it a little? That's one problem solved.

Not having a Vag I cannot really comment, but I think the more you worry and tense up, the more painful it'd be. Try to relax, lie back and think of England.

Relax! It's not some massive jagged metal torture device, it's a little clear plastic "funnel", and they lube it up nicely before they put it in. You probably won't even feel the smear being taken.

And the nurse will have seen thousands of untidy vaginas before. There's no way yours will be any worse than the others she'll have seen.

The thing they'll use will look a little like this: http://www.medema.co.uk/Products/Vag...ulum_large.jpg
