Default GCSE Double Award viewed as 2 GCSEs?

Do most Sixth Forms view Leisure & Tourism double award as 2 GCSE's in their own right? Also, if you have a B and a C in Short Course GCSE, will a Sixth Form consider these both together to be one GCSE, or are they effectively worthless in the eyes of a Sixth Form?

Thanks

Depends on how selective the sixth form is. But I think they will probably count the double award as 2 and you don't need to combine the two short courses, just leave them as they are.

When i did my GCSE's, i was doing Science: Double award, so this did count for 2 GCSE's. I also did R.E, however this was only a short course, as this counts as half a GCSE. So they are not worthless!
I put it down as this on my UCAS Univeristy application.

So if 1 Short Course is half, are 2 short courses taken as 1 full GCSE?

Well not really. But are you worried that you need 5 C grades for sixth form.

Then yeah, 0.5 + 0.5 = 1.

All depends really, certain colleges/uni's will see it differently. I mean hypothetically it could do. But obviously if it's for 2 different subjects then no. For example if i done a shortcourse in R.E and Science aswell, i couldn't say it was a full GCSE as they are both different. It would just be half a GCSE in both subjects. Not a full one.
But they are woth something, so don't disregard it.

Well, including the Double Award I did get 5 A-Cs, my Sixth Form did state it's requirments as 5 A-Cs, is this usually honoured, or are they reluctant to take anyone who has only got 5? If the 2 Short Courses were counted, it would be 6.

If they asked for 5, and you got 5, then it's fine, you're in

And really, you got 6, so don't worry about being let in!
