Re: Post your best photographWhy don't they do it for you? IMO the last is the weakest of the lot that I posted but there you go. The second is hardly an artistic shot, or in fact good in many ways at all. The subject (me) is totally out of focus and composition is hardly perfect, it's more of an interesting look at what you can actually do with a fast frame rate.(Original post by MGS)
I like the 3rd one a lot - Just watch out with who you snap in the pictures when doing public shoots.
The others dont do it for me to be honest, but the 3rd - with the black and white effect works very well.
I had a quick look at your Photography website in your sig and I'm wondering quite why you decide to post up images that even at low res, quite obviously are not in focus or have camera shake? I shoot manual lenses quite a lot so I've become quite a stickler for finding focus.
I will sometimes put up out of focus/badly exposed/slight camera shake affected images up on Facebook from a party or something when each moment is unique and unposed, but when doing actual 'photography' or on a shoot I will not put up an out of focus or shakey photo online and see it as quite unprofessional to do so. -
Re: Post your best photographThis afternoon I did a shoot to try and record some new awesome pictures(Original post by MGS)
Someone's touchy, thanks for the neg. Posting a link in your sig to your 'Photography work' implies that you take pride in what you do. I simply asked you why they weren't to your tastes, for you to give some sort of explanation as to what you don't like about them. I gave you some simple advice about looking better when you post work up online. It's basic presentation. I don't see anything in my post that was worth negging me for
1/250 @ f/22 with the speedgun set at 1/64 power to freeze the motion and to allow me to strobe it fast enough to keep up with my shutter, fired with a remote ETTL cord. Two tripods and firing at 6.3 fps to try and catch some decent shots. Out of 122 I got 6 worth editing
Even at f/22 many weren't quite in focus.

Better than my last post methinks. -

Re: Post your best photograph
Hi all, I'm very keen on photography, only have a digital camera etc at the minute, but I would like to buy a professional setup like most of you have, could you give me some advice on how much a reasonably good camera and lens etc would cost and where to get it from? Also what editing programs do you use?

as for software, i've had photoshop for ages
i've recently started using lightroom (more like a library, and the main features of photoshop), there is a free beta version you can download from the adobe website
i recently bought a 40D off ebay, which leads me on to, what is your budget?
and what type of photography are you looking into? -

I'm not really sure what type of photography, maybe landscape shots/person shots. Something that would have the same quality as many of the photos on here.
Im not too sure on the average camera price so I'll guess about £250-£300 maximum.
Thanks -
Re: Post your best photograph
ok, well the first thing to note about digital SLR's are the interchangeable lenses.
so you can buy the camera body, then buy 1 or many lenses to go with it, each lens basically specialising in something.
however, lenses can get very expensive!
a lens can easily cost more than the camera body.
i don't think you will get much for less than £300, so you may have to look on ebay.
for example, i think a canon 40D and standard kit lens goes for around £250.
when you have more money, you can then buy more lenses for it -

Re: Post your best photographThank you(Original post by Oldspeak)
Which Holga do you use?
nice photos
erm...tbh I'm not sure, its the one without a flash if that helps?
I'm kinda borrowing it, but I've just bought a Diana F+ so I'll probably give it back soon.
Not until I've shot a few more films though
