Re: Christ Church equivalent in Durham
Well, Castle is the oldest college in Durham, with some parts of the building dating from 900AD, and it's certainly pretty grand, being a castle and looking out onto the cathedral. However, I'm not sure if you're aware that unlike Oxbridge, no teaching is done within colleges at Durham, it's all centralised, so the course you apply to has no real bearing on which college you get into - all acceptances and rejections to the university are done via the department.
Castle also has the highes applications:places ratio of all the colleges. Some years this goes as high as 23:1, but the average is something like 18:1.
