Two of my friends did this last year in different stores and neither got till trained, making it slightly useless for retail experience.

It was fine. It was mostly practical. I had to hand out baskets to customers at the doors, hand out advantage card leaflets, pack bags for customers and make observations about good and bad things to do with the presentation of the store. Then she just told me about holidays and things, she didn't really ask me any questions. Good luck!

I'm really happy because about an hour after the interview i got a call offering me a job to start this Sunday! They're really short-staffed at the moment, so that's probably why.

Not at all useless for retail, one thing which Boots really focuses on with Xmas temps is customer service.

Its experience and the ability to deliver good customer service and improve sales that is favoured more than being able to use a till.....trained monkeys could work the tills lol

Ha yes but it's still a skill another shop would look for if you had retail experience.

Both were pretty much stacking shelves.

I applied over a week ago and I got a call today asking me to come in for an interview on Thurs.

Do they take on many male employees? As most the customers at Boots seem to be female

What kind of questions do they ask. To those who've been: what did you wear?

(I just Googled the address they told me to come to and the Boots they've called me in for an interview for is 'Boots The Chemists' )

I think officially Boots are all 'Boots the Chemist's - certainly they're all referred to in the Yellow Pages in this way.

Good luck! I applied today, so fingers crossed!

They've told me to bring my passport and proof of national insurance number with me to the interview.

Boots take on a fair amount of male employees...a lot of guys do actually shop in Boots also so its good to keep a mixture of the sexes.

Not sure about the questions as the recruitment process has changed a bit from when i was going through it. But in regards to what to wear....I went smart; pair of black trousers, a shirt and a jumper.

And with the address don't be worrying, Boots used to be known as that and there are very few stores that focus purely on the chemist side now, most of the money stores make come from the other products offered i.e. make up...bathing etc.

Good luck

Can someone help me with the online application please? It says I've completed it and submitted it... but I'm not sure because there were no past work experience/education questions like on other application forms? Have I missed these ones out or do they no exist?

The questionnaire thing won't work on my computer.

you have to do the questionnare otherwise the application doesn't go through properly, why doesnt it work? mine was a bit funny at first.

there's not any q's education or anything it's just basic details really like phone no. so you haven't missed anything out

Okay thanks for clearing that up. :]

It said something about pop-ups, so I disabled them, but it still wouldn't work. I might try it on a different computer and see if it works. Thanks for your help. :]
