I'm pretty frazzled right now so, sorry if this doesn't really make much sense.
When i was 11 i was the victim of sexual assualt and attempted rape.
I have been plauged with images of what the guy looks like and what happened since that day, and the talk of peadophiles and the like makes me feel like i can't breathe.
Today our village was informed that a 'famous' convicted peadophile had moved in.
Bare in my mind my village is very small and everyone knows everyone.
And their are alot of children.
Now i'm ****ing terrified, not for myself, but for the children who could end up getting harmed by this sick bastard.
Near his house is a large 'field' nicknamed 'Sea Field, in which there are many large bushes/deer etc. and LOADS of local children (pre-teen and younger) hang out there, how can i ever feel safe when my little sister or her friends announce they are going to 'sea field' when he could be out and about.
I frequent this 'Sea Field' myself quite regularly for my photography, but the thought of this bastard makes me not want to leave my house.
I haven't stopped crying in hours and i keep having panic attacks.
I know i have mighty big issues and i should get them sorted out, but i'm effed up. What horrified me even more is i googled the guy and he could be the brother of my attacker.
They look so alike.
Now i'm so scared that someone's children is going to go through what i went through, almost to the extent that i wish someone would put a gun to this guys head and blow his brains out.
I know if i see him i am going to go crazy. Either have a massive panic attack and start screaming or i'm going to attack this guy and try to kill him with my bare hands.
I want to set up freaking camp outside his house and follow him everywhere to make sure he doesn't hurt children. Just because i've been self harming since i was 11 because of this and tried to kill myself when i was 14.
I'm a very weak person and stuff like this affects me greatly.
I honestly don't know why i've typed all this out- i think it's just to get it off my chest.
I shall blame temporary insanity.
Can any other victims please assure me they would have the same worries?
(and please- no one mention the self harm/attempted suicide, the 'self harm' isn't self harm anymore, it is just a nervous habit thus nothing to worry about)
If he was still a danger to the public, they wouldn't let him out. Plus, he'll be tagged up to his tits. Still, even a rational explanation can't be much comfort.
My only suggestion - having never been in that situation myself - would be to inform the police about what you just said here. Voice your concerns and your experience. They would be very unwilling to put him near a victim of his - or victim of his relatives - I would imagine.
Other than that, I don't know what else to say - have you got a parent or friend you can talk to about it?
I mean... reasons like this are exactly why I'd prefer it if convicted pedophiles details weren't public. Ignorance is bliss, and you'd be living life the same as usual, without worry, if you weren't aware of him living there. I expect the police will be keeping a very close eye on him anyway, but it's not like they're a different species, any Joe on the street could be one too.
All you should do is keep an eye open for kids around adults, and report anything suspicous.

As the above has already mentioned: If they considered him to still be a risk to others, he would not have been released.

Seriously the person in question will be no danger to children anymore, seriously the sight of him and people are swarming around him so there is near impossible chances he can do it again.

I think you should let the police know your situation, as that isnt fair that you should be confronted with him in your local town. Dont let it get you down. Your a stronger person now, and he is the weak scum. Everything will be fine. But as 'Somebody' said it is probably worth speaking to somebody like friend or family member.
Well you didn't say the name of the pedophile or anything, so how would I know? But it's likely he won't be doing it again. I'm sorry for the experiences you've had, but you need to be a strong person and move on, now. For the good of your mental health.

you should always be on the watch for potential paedophiles. in this case you're actually warned and know who he is.
that's actually positive - there are so many paedophiles around who never get caught and manage to do their dirty business in secret for years until someone speaks out. see him as the one person of whom you actually KNOW he's dangerous. it's like if you know you're close to a dangerous animal you watch out not to get too close.
i had a peadophile actually live on my road ...right in the corner...coincidently (or not, depending on your opinion)...his house was the closest to the playing fields lol...but yeh they get tagged and police come every week to check on them....
I tell you what though....going round to knock on his house for halloween when i was 8-11 was a laugh!
But yeh, on a serious note, i wouldn't worry OP, it's pretty secure..and he might have limits as to where he is allowed to go? you may be allowed to ask the police to ban him from those fields if you think it would be an issue...i don't know how successful you would be, but in your position, an enquiry to the police would be perfectly understandable!

What total rubbish. A huge majority of child sex abuse is commited by family members. This whole 'watch out for Pedos!' thing is media hyped up paranoia.
