For maths? I doubt many of the successful mathmos do anything other than maths in their spare time :p:

Extra curriculars (Duke of Edinburgh, student council, saving the Earth in Africa and whatnot) really doesn't matter that much. It's academic potential & ability - and perhaps even more so for mathematics where it's such a non-vocational and clear-cut subject that it's purely your ability which will matter. Do some wider reading, and practice your maths - do preparation for STEP, teach yourself extra modules, maybe consider Additional Further Maths etc.
