Do you understand all the Mathematics underlying CS concepts?

I'm taking an Image processing course and wow! that module full of Mathsy stuff. I'm so lost in it. By the time they even reach the core image processing part, i'm already exhausted decoding all those mathematical reasoning :s-smilie:

Yeah i know CS is Mathsy(not only Image, also Networking, etc) but do you all understand the Math concepts that came with it or you skip it when you reach it :wink:

Well according to my exam results, I understand 41% of the Maths! I try to understand it all, but obviously a 100% understanding isn't incredibly important, but at least understanding the basics and having the general gist of what is going on will be useful.

I don't usually get it right away, but after using it for coursework or practising exam questions it usually clicks.

But yes. I'd much rather see something in mathematical notation than in C.

So far, most of our maths has been separate from issues of implementation, though.

I actually quite enjoy a lot of the math behind CS. Then again, I'm biased because I did a fairly decent chunk of a maths degree before I switched to CS.
