hey i have applied to raleigh going to be doing the nursing diploma
has anyone looked at the accommodation
ive read some pretty bad things on here like cars being cling-filmed, looking like an old dump, like a council estate now im regretting my choice
    make me feel better please

I have not seen any cars cling-filmed + car park has CCTV so they could catch whoever did it + Security from 6PM to some time in the morning so security would most likely get the person.
It don't look at all like an old dump and it is not at all like a councel estate.

I have no idea who has been telling you this, but if you have any questions for someone there now, ask

    thanks

was really panicing although it does seem abit far-fetched dont see why people say things like that!

erm i do have a few qs

    1) it saya only two of the courts have been newly refurbished? does that mean the other two arn't very nice?
    2) did you apply through the uni for raleigh?
    3) how does sharing a bathroom with 5 ppl work out :P
    4) whats the social life like?
people have said its **** cos your away from the uni park where everything goes on and its mainly older students who live there
    5) are the rooms nice and stuff worst thing i could think of is having an old battered mattress with the springs sticking out lol! (stayed ova at a uni on a taster week once and the room was like this!)

sorry to be so annoying with all my silly questions!
if you cba to answer them i wouid be really grateful :P

    thanks zoe

Hi - I'm currently at Sillitoe for this year as well and I'll answer your questions as best I can :

    1) As far as I know the refurbished buildings are Sillitoe and Madison - these have new carpets and leather kitchen sofas which are quite comfortable indeed.Byron and Chattersley just have regular chairs which aren't that great but those blocks are newer than Madison/Sillitoe however.

    2) You need to apply through Derwent Living online here .Make sure you have the £250 required for deposit to hand because you will need to pay it to complete the booking. After you complete the form you'll get an email notification telling you if you're successful - if that's the case they'll send you guarantor forms which have to be completed for the set deadline.

    3) Not too badly -there are actually two bathrooms in a six person flat , which means it's unlikely you'll end up having to wait for the bathrooms for long.Everyone tends to do things at different times.I will warn you though that the bathrooms in the Madison houses are quite small though ,you can reach across the sink when you're on the toilet with the shower tucked away in a corner.

    4) I do agree that sometimes not a lot goes on but I'd say I've definitely got mates who I hang around at Raleigh. There is the Beach Bar which is a on-site bar but it's been pretty much empty (except when screening football) since the first few weeks of term.Bar staff are very nice and friendly though .There's also a JCR - a bit small but not too bad.

    5) Quite pleased with my room - it's all modern and quite clean - I think the matresses were new for this year.I will say that some of the rooms are quite small but I think they are now selling those at a lower rate of rent. The room I'm in is quite big , lots of desk space (enough for two monitors and tower PC case) with space to spare.

I take it you've applied through Nottingham Hospitality. They deal with all the on-campus halls of residence , but they don't have anything to do with Raleigh Park which is run by Derwent.

Having said that when I went through NH when I got my place on insurance last year I recall seeing an option for Broadgate Park but they are run by UPP (but I think they are in partnership with the university).

    Only things I should add:

    2) Yes, I did apply though UoN, and then got redirected to Derwent as part of the application process. It is better to do it this way for your first first, as then if for some reason you didn't get a room at Raleigh, you would still be able to get a room at your 2nd or 3rd place.
Derwent has a partnership with the Uni, making Raleigh an official off campus halls.
