I'm off to Jesus College, Oxford in October and I'm afraid that I will leave stuff out which I will need. Does anybody know if there is a generic "essential kit list" floating about anywhere online, or should I stop being a lazy git and just get on with it?

Oxford has shops, y'know. So an utterly basic essential kit list would be:

1. clothes you are wearing;
2. money;
3. change of underwear and socks;
4. phone.

.. and at a pinch, (1) and (2) would do. (in other words, don't panic.)

Your college has a tradition of token gifts for people in their staircase so you should bring small symbols of wherever it is you come from e.g. Norfolk in my case, and give them to the 8 or so people you'll be living with. I think it's quite a nice one.

i'm guessing cooking utensils,etc are not supplied, so i should bring my own ?
