Does anyone do this? If so, is it as good as it sounds? I read everywhere about lemon juice being good for acne, it sounds like a miracle cure and too often, things like this seem too good to believe.

I started using it today by applying lemon juice onto my skin (I have about 5-6 spots appear during a breakout) after I wash it with a facial, leave on there for 15-20 minutes and rinse of with cold water. Morning and night.

Anybody else do this? It sounds natural and quite common even though it's the first I've heard of it.

I don't know much.. but yesterday I got some accidentally on my face where a spot is and it burnt like hell. It was diluted lemon juice too!


Also... 5-6 spots does not count as acne

I just had a thought... lots of facial products advertise how they work with the pH of the skin. However, lemons are very acidic - so perhaps might remove spots, but will irritate skin and cause redness.

Sounds a bit Victorian to me. I'm having a good experience with "Acnecide" gel, prescribed by my GP.

I've been using honey and lemon mixed sometimes with a bit of garlic, and it can work because it is a natural anti-septic. I used this on this area around my mouth where the antibiiotics the docter perscribed wouldn't work, and it went in a few days. I had some spots, and i am using it and it is getting rid of them very quickly. Sometimes you can see it on your face though, before your body melts it on the temperature of your skin, so try and use when you are not going somewhere, or learn how long it takes to be undetectable and apply it before.

It's probably a myth that it's good for your skin, started by some sadists who like watching people squirm.

Cool, thanks. I'll stick to the lemon for a week or two and see how things go. But always nice to know of other ways to use it.

As for it being an old myth, search it on google, "lemon juice" has higher reviews than any spots clearing product you can buy in the shops.

Completely natural, cheap and basically risk free. Unlike other products like clearasil have bleach in it.

If the lemon juice doesn't work, at night try putting a little blob of toothpaste on the spots. Sounds strange but does tend to reduce redness of them a bit

Tea tree oil also works quite well

I got it pescribed off my GP, hell i've never even had acne either, just the odd ones here and there, and the occasional breakout

Lemon juice isn't a great idea. There are no miracle cures for acne but there are a range of things that can help. See your GP - they deal with acne all the time.

yeah it worked for.. that and drinking lotsa water

yeah for the scars try bio oil and that palmers cocoa butter cream.. it REALLY works!

I'd never heard of the lemon juice idea before - but my friend has just started smearing natural yoghurt on her face every day and she swears by it. I thought she was joking at first, but apparently it's the best acne treatment she's ever tried, and she's had all the chemical stuff from the doctor's to no avail... so it might be worth a go?

I had a talk with my parents about lemon juice and they told me that appearantly people used to use it to bleach their skin back in the day. So, I'll urge anyone trying out lemon juice, especially if you've got dark complexion, to be careful...
