Default Could I get an allowance for M.E?

I am going to hospital on Tuesday expected to be diagnosed with M.E.

It's left me struggling to balance work with studies, so I am anxious about starting university in September.

Ideally I would like a small allowance so I don't have to stress about working extra hours and so I can focus on my studies. I am worried I won't be able to balance it out if I do.

I read about the following:

* Disabled Students' Allowances
* Access to Learning Fund
* Disability Living Allowance
* Incapacity Benefit

I doubt I am as worse off as people that fall into those categories, but some money is better than nothing. Has anyone been in that position with ME/CFS before and applied for funding?

After October, you won't be able to claim incapacity benefit as a new claimant.

Disbaled Students Allowance (DSA) is given out in the form of equipment - not money. (or you buy stuff, give them the receipt and they give you back the money)

I get £71 a month for my Minor hemiplegia.
I can't see any reason why not.
But remember to exadurate your condition.

That's fraud. With Disability Living Allowance, you're meant to do it as if it's an average day.

Well anyway, I guess I better wait for the hospital to put it in writing.

iv got ME had it for 5 years going to uni this year. one of the best places to check is on the AYME website, it will give you a guide to what kind of things you might find helpful depending on how bad you are and where you can acess them. you might be able to get funds from social services if you're really bad. i know others have with ME.
im a lot better at the moment so trying to do it on my own to start with but i think the support is good

It would be worth applying for DSA, and seeing how that goes.The assessments can be really helpful at identifying things that make your life easier.
