HELP! I've Missed University Open Days!
What should I do?

Just have a look around at some point? Pick based on prospectuses? I only visited one of my unis.

Contact the University, Most offer a personal tour if you missed there open day. Or if you've got time (i.e. applying for 2009) just go to the next one!

Don't worry too much. Like someone said, you could always ring up and ask if you could go there and have a look. With the University I'm going to, I didn't look at it until they'd made me an offer and invited me to an open day which was specific to my course because I'd missed the open days with it being so far away.

I missed most of the open days too, most universities are really nice about showing prospective students around even if its not an open day (they want you to apply!). If you call ahead (or even just turn up if you're in the area) almost all unis will let you wander round and often will offer to show you round anyway, or alternatively you can wait for the next round of open days that happen in october i think

I don't think it matters really. I only went to one open day.

OH wait, it wasn;t even an open day, just a self guided tour.

I missed the open days for my university but easily arranged a private tour and a meeting with the head of my course. Don't panic

Find student bar or cafe, sit down with a bunch of people who don't look too busy and just offer to buy them a drink. Most people here at least are nice enough to help you out if you're not too busy and I certainly get people doing that from time to time. In fact, its what I did when I was applying, worked far far better than guided open days most of the time. Obviously be polite and if they're not up for it then just leave it but I do recommend it.

im not sure about tutors but if you go during term time there are always students around, and they're often happy to answer questions you have when it becomes obvious that you're looking around...obviously i can't speak for all unis but for the ones i visited that was definitely the case, which also made me look most positively about the uni's i was visiting

Aye I took my boyfriend to an Open day and he only got a wee bit of info, he called and asked if he could go and look around and talk about the course, spent two hours with the head of department!

I didn't go to any except the Glasgow one and I only went to get the bag so I could prove to my high school that I went.

Don't worry about it OP; you will be fine.

Just read the prospectus and browse the forums for information on each uni etc.

I've only been to one open day (Cardiff) and i'm not even applying there haha. I might just ring up some of my choices and beg for a personal tour
