Default period pains with no period

Since Friday I've been having period like pains but am yet to start bleeding. I have had two periods since I last had sex, in June, but they were lighter than normal and I have never been regular. In between having sex and now I went on the pill for one packet but decided it gave me too many side effects to continue. Since the pains began I've had more discharge than usual but no blood. I'm getting really worried, I hope it's just my worrying that is stopping my period.

Should I fork out for a pregnancy test, go get an sti test or just try to forget about it?

Well I don't think you can just forget about it if you think you could be pregnant or diseased!

No, you've got to wait just a little longer. With me, i normally have to wait 4 days before my period actually starts. Possibly the same with you considering you've changed your cycle with the pill.

Some women feel pain when ovulating. If you're having heavier than usual discharge its very possible that you are in the ovulation stage of your cycle. Should probably see your doctor about the irregular periods as they can be a sign of hormonal inbalance.

If it's been about 6 weeks since you last had sex the chances are you're not pregnant as you'd probably be noticing more significant side effects than heavier discharge, having said that a pregnancy test might be a good idea for your peace of mind.

I sometimes get period pains between periods but my nurse told me these were ovulation pains, as I usually get them around half way between cycles. Heavier discharge is usually often linked to hormonal changes so you may be just undergoing some hormonal fluctuations.

If you are sore/itchy down there and the discharge is of a worrying nature e.g. different texture, pungent then you may just have thrush but you might want to go and get an STI test anyway if that is the case as that can also be a symptom for other stuff. Hope that helps.

Oh and in terms of the worrying, it's usually very heavy considerable anxiety or stress over a decent period of time that would stop a period, not small bursts of anxiety, so if that's what you've been experiencing it may be that.

I suppose I have been screwing with my body, going onto the pill then coming off of it etc. I'll just cross my fingers for a period asap

It's probably nothing, but it can't hurt to just get the pregnancy/sti test can it? you don't want to risk these things.

As above said, it could be ovulation pain, also during this time discharge changes. Look it up.

it ould be ovulation pain...although i do get period pain for like a week before hand...as for how regular your periods are this can depend on diet and how long you have actually been having periods
but if you're real worried taking a pregnancy/sti test wouldn't hurt x

Well not meaning to worry you, but period pains with no bleeding were my first symptoms of both my pregnancies.

Both times I convinced myself that my period was going to start any minute, because it felt so much like period pains.
But no, I was pregnant, so of course I never did start bleeding.

You definitely do need to take a test. Give it until your period is a few days late, and then take one.

I've been having period pains on and off for two months and no period - and I am NOT pregnant (taken like ten tests). It's probably just you're body being weird.

Don't worry mon amie - I had those pains as well, about a week before I actually get my period. But progressively over the last year or so the pains were worsening and coming way before my period was due and my period became irregular so I was prescribed the pill by my gyno - I've now been on it for about 2-3 months and its beginning to regulate my period and the discharge is becoming normal now coz even mine were far lighter than usual and stopping in about 2 days. The pains have also disappeared

Why don't you see your gyno to find out what's wrong
