Well here I am, sitting on my laptop 2 days before I am set to leave for uni. I decided to have a look at the Good University Guide (even though I knew my uni wasn't very high on it) I was just curious as I forgot how bad it was. Basically it's in the 50's. And now I can't stop thinking why I choose the one I have. (I don't want to name it or my course but I'm sure if you look at some of my other posts you can find out!) I got AAB in my A-levels which was exactly what I thought I would get so it wasn't as if I chose my uni because I didn't think I could get the grades for my other 4 choices. How important do you think the ranking of your uni is on the good university guide?
I'm so annoyed because up until about 10 minutes ago I was really excited about going to uni!
i know which uni and course you are doing from prevoius posts it dont matter which uni you go to for the that course they are all accredited by the same body so they are roughly the same. and it doesnt matter i guess. thats what most people in here told me

I know exactly what you mean, don't worry! I just ignore it....type in on google the university of x reviews and it will give you reviews of undergraduates of your university.
Or write a list yourself, and place it at the top - it'll have the same validity and relevance to your degree.
League tables are nice and everything (not), but I suppose you should think of your uni as though it were a football team. It might not be Oxford / Manchester Utd, but it's your university / team, so there.
I prefer university reviews that tell you each university's individual strengths and weaknesses, and actually give you some information about what it's like to go there and what the courses involve rather than just a dumb list.

Manchester United would be Cambridge, not Oxford.

The Times (and Sunday Times) profiles which, although not "reviews", do give a decent overview of the uni and, if the OP reads the profiles of RGU, they'll see there's more than just its mediocore league position.
The irony being that you repeatedly tell people not to bother about league tables, and then you, usually, spend three pages discussing the relative positions of universities.

Erm...like where?
No more than anyone else....
And I don't think that league tables are completely worthless anyway.

Well, I do tend to see you pop up a lot on these kind of threads. There's nothing wrong with it; it just seems a little hypocritical when you told him that league tables are 'not very important'. But it's cool...
Surely, arguing about the relative positions of Oxford and Cambridge is nigh on worthless though?

So so true. It's hilarious to watch!
To river85: You say stuff like: 'There's nothing between X uni and Y uni but Y has that slight edge' lol. Always!

Sure, but it's not like I go, "oh my godz, that uni is ranked 28th. It's sooo crap."

I wasn't. It was just that, as a Manchester United fan (should I really admit that that?.....) I'd rather it was associated more with Cambridge
