Nottingham Party Uni or IS THERE MORE?

I know that Nottingham is well rounded both academically and socially. But I wanted to know how Nottingham is for the "Not so Hardcore" party animal. Like are there any other things to do (at night/in the evening) in your freetime besides clubbing and partying. Also do you really have to go for all of those Freshers week partys (and wear fancy dreses to all of them).

There's plenty to do besides drinking. I guess it depends on what you want to do. It's a city, just like other places, so if you had something in mind, there's probably something nearby. You could join societies and go their events. You don't have to go to fresher week partys, or wear fancy dress, but I guess it would be a good way to meet people. Although you probably won't be the only one not in fancy dress.

We are alike. I hate partying. Where are you staying? Maybe we could hang out?

There will be loads of societies for you to meet like minded individuals, alot of them won't involve partying, unless of course you join the partying society (which may or may not exist), so you could build your social life around societies.

You don't have to go to any of the Week one stuff. In fact that only people that will know or care will be your flat mates.

Like the others have said, you don't have to go to any of the parties.
I hardly go out but I fit right in. There are societies and clubs you can join, there's a gym, there'll be tv, there's the internet...there are loads more things to uni life than going out.
You save more money too

Thanks for the help guys you really helped calm my nerves. I was just looking at the Week One timetable and just saw a bit too much partying events. Not too say i don't like partying but too much is a bit too expensive and a bit too socially demanding. Btw my Economist friend i'll be in Rutland hall in University Park. What bout u, bgp.

I'm not much of a party animal either.
I'll probably go to a few of the Week One events to meet people, but I don't plan on being out every night.

I'm sure there'll be others, don't worry!

On campus you can go to the gym or play tennis for example, swim, hang out at the student bar, surf the net or just watch. Thats if you got time with over 170 Socities to choose from. Thats not including all the things you can usually do in a city like nottingham. Cinema, shopping, bowling...

I admit i like partying, but i think i just enjoy socialising a lot and hanging out with people. But there is so many people at uni, im sure there will be people like ourselves at uni. There already is a few like yourself, who are not party animals, on here. So you've got nothing to worry about!

I can't wait for freshers personally, looks great. Party events and non party events - alton towers!
PARTY!

Although i'm not sure I can stretch to a different fancy dress for every night. I'm just gonna buy some face paint and blag it. Things like Uniformity and theres a Rave one I think are quite easy. Things like Caveman, not so much

I think it must be but either way it does sound good!
I'm on BGP and I'm not a clubbing/drinking person really.
There is some good stuff on the week one programme though, like the day-trips and a pub-quiz!
From people I have spoken to; there is a significant proportion of people with similar attitudes to yours so I don't think you're going to feel left out.

I just did some little investigating and i think NG1 is a gay club. The picture is much clearer now lol :o: or maybe i got the wrong place.

All of the night-time events are basically nightclub events with different fancy dress and little extras on the side related to the theme.

You DON'T HAVE TO wear fancy dress to any of the events, but it's generally more fun to get dressed up with your new mates and go out partying. I didn't wear fancy dress to any of the events bar face paint and my BGP t-shirt at the final party.

NG1 is a gay club when it's not throwing its student night. It's decent as far as Nottingham goes.

There are the same things to do there as at any city/university.

Throwing yourself into the night-time events is the best way to meet new people and get to know your flat-mates - drinker or not. The whole night isn't spent on the dance-floor; all clubs have (fairly) quiet seating areas to sit and chat, places to stand and gaze smolderingly across the room and non-alcoholic drinks on offer.

You may not enjoy the lifestyle, but it's better to throw yourself in and get to know people in WeekOne (which is the idea) than try to tag along with flat-mates you don't really know that well on a night out six months down the line when we've all fallen into our usual get smashed - get girl - get food routine and are less interested in "meeting and talking to" new people.

thanks guys for the support, nice to a diverse collection of people this may make it easier for me to find like minded people and btw again i will say don't get the impression that i hate partying. Also if u see me somewhere please refrain from telling me off and swearing at me just cause I'm from Rutland Hall.

I'm allergic to face paint!!!! So i hope no-one attacks me with some or there's some kind of "face paint" freshers week party! That would be a disaster! Although it would be rather amusing the morning after when my face is all swollen up. I've been to primark yesterday to get a pink t-shirt! £2, bargain. That'll do for our pink theme and the "funked up" one too i think.
