In my 2nd/3rd year l generally didn't receive much information other than what was sent from my department via email, or posted on domino/luvle.
I suppose it depends on the department/course/collrge, but all l had to attend was a 'Welcome Back' talk from my course which was during Fresher's Week.

I had my residence contract through a little while ago, and the re-registration thing. No one from my departments has talked to me though...
