No they are not imperfect as the person is not referring to the past.

I wish [insert name] were here.

They are wishing that the person were there in the present as opposed to in the past. It is more common these days to say:

I wish [insert name] was here.

...as the subjunctive is sadly dying out in English :frown:

i'm not rich :wink:
i'm actually from a pretty impoverished, rented-accommodation house myself.
the scholarship is worth a grand a year, which works out at about an extra 20 or so quid a week for me. Hopefully this means i'll be living fairly comfortably :s-smilie:
