Supermarkets, in the town there is a sainsburys near the bus stop, there is a somerfields near it. There is an asda just out of town, and a booths near uni. As well as a few butchers and green grocers around
Shops, yep has some of them. Standard high street shops, not a huge variety tho (but thats good, stops you spending money on clothes etc)
There is a VUE Cinema, and campus have a cinema (that show slightly older films, like 2 months (maybe) after been in cinema. There are a couple of theatres, never been tho
There are a few parks, Williamson park is a nice one, with memorial on the top. There is the Pendle PlayPark on campus, with swings and stuff too.

I'll just add onto phils.

Supermarkets -> There's also an M&S in town.
Shops -> Quite a small selection. No primark, but there's a new look etc.
Cinema -> Phil summed it up.
Parks -> Williamson park usually has summer plays too, where the actors/scenes move across the park. It's on a huge hill and looks across the whole city. Really nice.
Thank you both

If you want to do some good Primark shopping (& other shops Lancs doesn't have) go to Preston, 20 mins on the train and you can usually get away without paying

Hi somebody told me they are building a Primark next to PC world on Caton road a couple of mins walk from Sainsburys. Don't know how true it is.

Is this like a kiddy playground type thing, with those things on big springs? That'd be cool, and even more fun when drunk

One of them is The Dukes, which is also an arts cinema claiming to have the biggest screen north on Manchester (and presumable south of Newcastle  ). It shows the occasional mainstream film.

Quick tip: tickets are very rarely checked on the Virgin service Lancaster-Preston (trains to London/Birmingham), but are frequently checked on the Transpennine service (trains to Manchester Airport).

As the person above posted, The Dukes is a producing theatre in Lancaster with a cinema and also a youth theatre called DT3 which puts on youth productions. http://www.dukes-lancaster.org/

There's also the Grand Theatre which is an old more traditional theatre playing host to both touring companies and shows from 'The Footlights Club' which is the Grand's amateur drama group. http://www.lancastergrand.co.uk

On campus there's the Nuffield Theatre which is a large studio theatre and tends to put on more contemporary theatre aswell as things like dance too. http://www.nuffieldtheatre.com

Lancaster University Theatre Group also produce shows in smaller more intimate venues which arn't proper theatres, like the Sugarhouse and the Gregson Centre. www.theatregroup.co.uk

Theatre productions are also put on in Lancaster Castle and in the summer, outside in Williamson park.

So all in all, theres plenty of theatre-y goodness in Lancaster!
