They're both probably equal in terms of academia, learning required, and concepts to grasp. They both have the same amount of theories and ideas to learn, etc. They're also both essay based subjects - it depends which way you personally prefer.
Do you prefer a more scientific subject (hypothesis, conclusion, aims, graphs, statistics) or more an arts subject (your opinion, quoting from text [the bible], the whole 'balanced argument' essay piece).
Well basically I chose to do religious studies over psychology but I do have the option to do psychology instead- as a subject I'd prefer religious studies but I wasn't sure if it was a respected subject as some people i know dont think it is.. thanks for your help
Psychology is fun, not up there with the Chemistry and English Literature but it's certanly also not down there with the Food Tech or something, so my point is as long as you have other well respected subjects Psychology is not a ****** subject!!!
Don't listen to some of the posters.
RS IS VERY RESPECTED. Its alongside English Literature.
ITs on the A - List at Cambridge (the highest List), where as Psychology is on the 'limited suitability' (B) list
as junoreactor said, RS is definitely the more respected, as a traditional arts subject, of the two. But it is also (and correspondingly) slightly more difficult, and if the OP's more interested in psychology then perhaps that's the way to go. Or the OP could do both.
RS is more respected, sometimes I've seen that Psychology is classed as a softer A level, I took both for A-Levels! I absolutely LOOOOVED RS, but choose which one you think you will enjoy most, because I was like the only one in my class who got an A! If you enjoy it though, it'll give you more motivation to study it and do well! Good Luck, If you have any questions let me know and I'd be happy to answer them!

I'm at Oxbridge and I studied it, I know of others who studied it too. It depends on what you're thinking of getting into. But generally do what interests you and do well at it. I really loved RS, best A Level and fun class..
I'm doing both, RS is so much more interesting so far. I had no idea it was up there with english lit, looks like English lit, Psychology, RS and Business&Economics is a decent combination. (What I am doing at AS if you didnt pick up on that)
OP, please make sure you take reliable information away from this thread.
RS A-level is definitely a very respected subject, alongside the likes of English lit. and history. It is always in the ‘preferred’ or ‘recommended’ list of subjects published by the top few universities.
Psychology is not exactly a soft subject like sociology for example, but it is occasionally seen in the ‘somewhat suitable’ or ‘helpful’ list of subjects as opposed to the ‘recommended’ list.
See what subject you like more in terms of subject matter and if you have say 3 other strong subjects, then psychology isn’t a bad choice but if you want this one to be a strong A-level, go for RS.
R.S definitely, I took psychology at the beginning of my AS levels and dropped in by half the year, it really is dire. I take R.S (Well, philosophy by definition.) and it's one of my favourite subjects.
But y'know, this is all subjective, and my opinion.
"Psychology is not exactly a soft subject like sociology for example, but it is occasionally seen in the ‘somewhat suitable’ or ‘helpful’ list of subjects as opposed to the ‘recommended’ list."
I read recently that Psychology gets under rated for some reason and its very hard. According to research its as hard to get top grades with as something like Chemistry or biology.
Sociology it seems was much easier.
The difficulty of a subject might not be reflected in those lists. The lists seem to be based on some old idea of what is " traditional" - like maths , English or bilogy Chemistry and Physics.
Anything else seems to get more limited approval.
Since I am not going to Oxbridge because I cant afford it it wont matter to me so I am doing Maths, Chemistry, Biology Psychology and English and we have to take RE at AS as a compulsary extra.
I hope to finish up with maths biology and psychology which will happily get me a place locally.
I am staying at home because it will be cheaper and doubt the degree will be worth more because its come from Oxford or Cambridge or something.
They dont get all the " best " students - only those who are good and can afford it or who are daft enough to get a mortgage for a debt before they reach 21.
