So everyone tell me how its been cuz for me its been very weird and surreal i still don't feel like im here lol perhaps the nerves will leave me soon! arh its all so strange! someone please tell me its normal to feel a bit unhappy on the first day?

Yeah, it's perfectly normal. I think I went through every emotion possible this time last year, and to a lesser extend this year!
Give it a couple of days and you'll be cool. After your first two weeks of 'normal uni life' after freshers' week, you'll be loving it

I was incredibly unhappy to the point where I wanted to go home but am now more optimistic after going to Woody's bar. I'm still a bit worried about being here though just because I don't really know anyone on my corridor yet
I'm basically happy as long as I won't be stuck in my room every day and I'm hoping TSRians can help with that lol!

yeah i will help you lol, i went to woody's and everywhere just now on that guided pubcrawl, the thought of jacking in has already crossed mind but ive come too far to do that now! im in a six bed house with 4 guys lol the fifth person hasn't arrived yet but it better be a bloody girl lol

Fortunately, no one will mind me withdrawing from uni and coming home after Freshers' Week if I really hate things, so I won't pine for home too acutely. If I want to leave, I just will. That might make me a quitter, but people should never be forced to endure horrific experiences.

What's so special about this bar, by the way? Did some TSR users take you there?

And if we want to we can stay in our rooms for however long we want, can't we?

well its not that special its just better than the other chavvy ones, and ofcourse u can stay in ur room as along as u like lol

I think Woody's is special because it re-assures people that not all evenings out have to be going to a bar and getting drunk. It's a friendly pub where you can just chill, and not worry about 'fitting in'.

Wahey! No freshers' activities for me. I'll be anonymous until the onset of the first week of studying. That or just get trains out of Canterbury as often as I can. (It's only £2 to Margate, though that'd only release me from Canterbury for about an hour. Maybe I'll be frugal with my money and go to London most days.)

It wasn't really that woody's was amazing or anything, it just wasn't as awful as I expected and then also I met GsG and Kram and I realised that not everyone in the uni is going to be like my corridor mates
I was really starting to worry before then.
