Yes, a lot of people pick up AS Further Maths in Year 13 alongside their A2s. Self study will require more work but it's by no means impossible.

it's perfectly possible. C4 is a little tricky at points, but it can be done. for AS further maths, FP1 isn't too bad. the newest syllabus has dropped a fair bit, and is now only based on C1 and C2. don't know what applied modules you'd like to do, maybe some more stats? or some variation with mechanics or decision?

Good to hear~~
it looks like FM is linked to Maths as u must have completed a maths qualification before getting a FM one.
If I have done a Maths AS in old GCE syllabus but want to do a AS FM in new syllabus, will there be a problem?

it shouldn't be a huge problem i doubt. what board are you on? if they change any of the syllabus, it'll be in the further pure modules i suspect, not on C1-4, which are your main building blocks. and even if they make a change, it wont be major, and nothing that could take you more than a few hours to master.

I m with WJEC. just read the specification and it seems they didn't change anything at all. i m quite afraid that the maths head of department would be reli annoyed if i do that. Her face looks horrible when I did the AEA maths this summer and failed it. and she wouldn't let me do the GCSE maths resit even tho I got a C in HKCEE maths(IGCSE equivalent), cos she thinks it's"unnecessary"~~+_+

well you might find it a bit difficult, but lots of hard work will get you good grades.
