Hello all, I am on a gap year until Febuary when hopefully I will be working for PGL. Do you think if I apply for a christmas vacancy this will cover this period of time? I have already applied to M&S and told I do not possess the right qualities for a sales assistant?! Despite the fact they have offered me a job before and I have had lots of jobs as a sales assistant - very annoying!

Who told you that you didn't have the right qualities? Was it in an interview?

Marks and Spencers famously has a very tough employment process and often very qualified candidates are rejected.

in terms of christmas jobs, i have had 2 christmas jobs and had offers of more. i tend to find that the larger the store, the longer they keep you on. At BHS for a christmas job, they kept me on until mid january, wheras in the book shop i was kept only until new years day. just to apply to many chrsitmas jobs as most begin hiring now or very soon, then at interview ask when you will be needed to work until.

Some Christmas jobs may cover that period, but it depends on the place.
If they like you, they might keep you on for as long as you want.
