I just saw a cockroach in my bedroom - how worried should I be?

ive heard that they are known to come out at night and try to eat people while they sleep.

You know they send out scouts to know when people are living somewhere, so they can send in what are known in the biological world as "the harvesters", the larger ones who rip you up whilst you sleep and take food back to the nest for the young and the queen. You should have killed it - ah, but then the fact that their scout didn't return would have alerted them to your presence. You need a spy within their ranks to see how high up their list of victims you are, so you can prepare a counter-insurgency against them. Maybe try bargaining with a rival cockroach nest in exchange for the whereabouts of your flatmates sleeping quarters?

I moved in to my house about a week ago. Earlier I was sat at my desk and it just came out of nowhere and started crawling around on a pile of papers.

It stopped when it was aware of me and started flailing its antennae, I reached to grab for somethin but it scurried away under my keyboard. I went to put on some gloves and removed all objects from the desk but it was gone.

It was the only one I saw but im worried about them being directly harmful as ive heard that they are known to come out at night and try to eat people while they sleep.

what should I do if I see it again??

Also are they capable of flying?? that may explain how it got away
