I'm going, so is my friend Sophie, who lives in Kent. So whoever it was up there who was wondering if anyone from Kent is going, she is!
As for the Edge session, do we need to bring anything extra? Someone mentioned bringing a personal statement, but I'm only in year 12, and I've not done a huge amount of work experience yet, but I have lots more planned next year. So my personal statement would be epic fail.

When I went they said bring a PS, but I didn't bother and never needed it.
Just jot down some ideas on paper, list work exp/hobbies etc

Okay, thanks for the help. I just didn't see the point in writing a PS now, when it will be totally different next year. I suppose it would be good practice, but I'll probably just write a draft type thing.

Is VetMedlink really important/useful? I do want to go but I don't think I can afford it this year :s

I don't think it's hugely important, no. Just an optional extra. I don't think it enhances your application dramatically or anything.

The unis cant take it into account because its cost quite a chunk, for me it was more about meeting like minded people, and having a taster of university life, don't worry if you can't go, it won't be held against you,

Yeah, I just found out that the dates are between 17th - 20th Dec, and I won't be able to be there on the 20th, but I was really willing to do.

For anyone who's been on this vetmedlink before, what did you gain from it? What did you learn? What was beneficial (or not) and would you recommend others to go?

Does anyone know roughly how long the taxi takes, and roughly how much it is from the train station? I'm not sure which station is the closest either.
We're going from Birmingham New Street.

i went there last year, and stayed in southwell hall.
had an amazing week. didn't know anybody till i arrived.
we had lectures xpecially the ege one till 11pm. and orderd take away oizza at 5am.
some ppl wnet out round town during the nights. but we stayed in 2 play pool and get 2 know each other.

    Some replies
TRAIN i remebring catching the taxi from the station, is was about £4 each for 5 of us?? roughly

PERSONAL STATMENT they will mark ur ps there, but u can also send 1 to them ina yrs time for them 2 mark which will cost £10 myself i didnt take or hadnt done my ps. totally up 2 u, but as u say u have much more experiences 2 come.

GENERAL it did help me with writing my ps, and mix with different ppl. it did cost a lot, but i truerly enjoyed my time there. U dnt do any practial stuff, there is another course called vetsim in april which involves practical sessions. all this course is lectures, some much more interesting than others. and be warned, it is very cold there!!!! I would deffinately recomend it, but yet again it is not essential, somebody who has been will have no advantage over somebody who hasn't when it comes too applying.

    hope that helps.

    Which station though ?
Thanks. Shall I email them to ask about the coach?
I've tried emailing them a couple of months ago, and got no reply, I tried again last week.

By the way, what is everyone going to wear? It says 'smart casual' but i hate that term: it's so vague!
I don't know whether they want smart trousers and shirts or just jeans and a nice top.

Just wear whatever, even though it says smart casual, nobody cares.

Oh thank you for the info. I was just worried I'd turn up in jeans and everyone would be wearing suits, haha.

I think I read somewhere that if you've booked the mock interview thing, you're expected to treat it as a real one, and wear what you would wear to your real interview.
