I can't respect a university which uses adverts.

How do you define "advert"? Yale, Harvard, a host of ancient European universities (including Oxford and Cambridge) right down to Durham, Lancaster and KCL advertise in some way.

WOLLSMOTH
I don't believe any of the g6/elite universities advertise. And i'm certainly not going to take your word for it because you're out to get me.

Talk about paranoia. Believe him or don't believe him. He's a lot more educated and knowledgable than you are.

Oh, and to answer your PM, no I don't agree. Yet another clanger from Wollsmoth.

WOLLSMOTH
90% of Birmingham's degrees include general studies. Listen ok. How can you think Birmingham is even top 30 ?

You're an idiot (go on report me, I dare you :p: )

King's DO advertise, especially like Boosh said for the War Studies course.

The rules are:

No inappropriate assumptions about others' university plans
Jessaay!
Salford is just manchester gone wrong :frown:

:mad::p:

Anyway, didn't we have a thread on here recently about Cambridge advertising itself?

Teeheehee!

The problem is that they are all so cheesy!

Did you always want to go to Durham?

Castle's is the best video

Although the city one comes close

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=DydhBGGrRCU&feature=related

They're really awful. Don't you just really want to smack that guy in the castle video? :p: (they're fooling themselves if they honestly believe they have the best bar).

Anyway, I wouldn't say I always wanted to go to Durham. At the start of sixthform I was quite clueless (coursewise) like most.

i've seen Bangor Uni's adverts on here quite recently

Salford's not that bad :frown:

Ιτ᾽σ (Oops, left the keyboard set to Greek! Start again...) It's not bad; I have a few friends there and they really enjoy their courses. It's just an easy target. :hugs:

It's okay, you can live in your little dreamworld if you want. I happy place full of bunnys and sunbeams where King's teaches undergraduate economics, the G6 exists, a 2:3 is a genuine degree classification and no-one knows more about higher education than you do.

The rest of us can just about get by without you on planet earth.

No seriously, hard as it can possibly be to imagine for you, we'll manage.

I go to Salford uni and there's nothing wrong with it! It is not Manchester gone wrong!
The uni its self and the area around the uni are fine! I chose Salford over MMU because i prefered it.

I'm sure every university advertises in some way, shape or form.
Why do people on TSR constantly slag off other peoples universitys and degree's all the time??? I thought most 18 year old's were mature enough to be past all of that "My uni is better than your Uni" rubbish!

so they're not in the top 10, big woop..they're still respectable unis

Hi  what course do you do? I chose Salford over MMU as well because it has a very 'campusy' feel to it with it being more closed in.

I think that's what i liked about it too, and information and communications tech, learning to program and such  I think i've spoke to you before! You do languages?

Leeds Trinity anyone?

I thought that was a higher education college, not an actual University?

It's a teaching college of Leeds, I think.

There is no G6. I know how much you love Kings, and I know how much you want people on TSR to see you as somebody special because you aspire to Kings, but lying about it will NEVER make people take you seriously.

There is no G6. You are not special because you go to the G6. There is no G6.

You forget, he isn't even at a uni yet (whether Kings or anywhere else) so he's certainly nothing special :p:

I've consistantly challenged him on this and he (finally) tried to justify his point.

Apparently it's well known that the university of London is elite ( ) Both LSE and UCL are in the UoL and the G5. As a result KCL (also a UoL institution) must be in the G5 (as it's UoL) making the G5 the G6.

Or something like that.

I then pointed out that there are another fifteen (or whatever) more UoL instiutions, this would make it the G20 odd. He didn't reply to that.

Basically, trying to give KCL further prestige by association.

I particularly enjoyed his recent attacks on Birmingham. A university with entry standards as strict as KCL (more or less).

Here is an advert in The Guardian. If you read the top of the advert, you will see that it says: "Brough to you in association with Kings College London",

http://education.guardian.co.uk/video/page1/0,,2176775,00.html

This is a Kings College advert.

Here is a Kings College advert on ww.findamasters.com:

http://www.findamasters.com/custadverts/kcl.asp

EuroBrussels.com has an advert:

http://www.eurobrussels.com/advertise_4.php

Just going through Google will show you countless examples. Every single university advertises outside beyond its own website.

Here is a good link for you: www.jobs.ac.uk. They advertise masters and PhD courses for Kings:

Wow, these adverts are very impressive. I must say, that video really did show how wonderful KCL really is.
