model house of commons update - the end game

    Evening MPs,
First of all, we have the long-awaited TSR Budget tonight from the Chancellor. We've not had one of these for almost two years now, and this is only the third one ever in our history so be sure to make the most of it.

After that we have a new bill and a petition. There are also two new results which you can find below.

And then, we have the end itself. Yes, as briefly alluded to above, the Eighteenth TSR Parliament officially expires today and hence it is time for us to begin election preparations. Perhaps unexpectedly, I am actually going to take advantage of clause 3.2 of the Constitution and delay the proceedings for convenience' sake. Don't worry, it's only for a couple of days at most and I'll let you know the specific timings of the election and how it is all going to work tomorrow evening. Until then, the Budget, the bill and the petition should keep you going.

That being said, from this point onwards, I am no longer accepting any more new items for discussion (you can still send your items to vote though). If you do have any items that you would like to go to discussion, feel free to send them in to me at any point even during election time, but they won't go up until the next parliament opens.

    Evening MPs,
First of all we have a new vote tonight. There's also a petition from last night which I forgot to include in the update. After that, it's time for the election deets:

The General Election will be held on the evening of Monday 17th March 2014.

The deadline for manifesto submissions will be Monday 17th March 2014 at 16:00 GMT (4PM).

That date again is March 17, 4PM. Manifestos need to be sent to me via private message, and must be less than 250 words (but you can have an additional 20 words on top of that for a tagline).

Everyone needs to make sure they read this page to get a grip of exactly what's going to happen over the next week.

"But Jarred, what happens to my bills and motions?"

Read the link I posted above, fool.
No more items will go up to discussion this term, but you can send the items you already have up to vote, even if you want to includes changes. But you have to do this before 4PM on Thursday. All items will be automatically withdrawn at that point if not sent to vote. Still, there's no need to rush if you are not ready. Perhaps you think your bill needs another reading before going to vote and are worried that you can no longer get this. Don't worry, if you let your item get withdrawn this term, then I will allow you to resubmit it next term if you don't fancy rushing through a final text between now and Thursday.

    the end </3

    Evening MPs and/or candidates,
The term has now come to a close and it's time for the election to begin! The election will run for the next seven days, concluding on the evening of March 24. After this, there will be a seven day coalition building period. With that, a Government and an Opposition shall be formed, and Parliament XIX shall officially begin on March 31.

Click here to go to the election.

It's been nice working with all of you for the past term. As always, I can't believe how fast the past six months have gone, but I hope to see most of you again in the next term.

Now I must officially begin the process of dissolution. Soon, all MPs will be removed from the MP usergroup. Should you become an MP in the next term, you will need to apply to the group again but that's a long way off yet. Government and Opposition parties will continue to have access to their collective subforums for a few more weeks yet. Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

To vote in the election you must have both three months worth of existence on TSR and more than 100 posts. However, if you are an MP at the time of this message and do not meet these requirements then I may allow you to vote via PM. Please contact both myself and toronto353 by PM with your vote. The deadline for doing this is slightly earlier than ordinary voting so get it in fast! This courtesy may also be extended to independent candidates who do not meet the three months activity / 100 post rule - again, send us both a PM with your vote.

Any other questions, please PM me or ask in ATS.

    Good luck,
    Jarred
