    Model House of Commons Update

    Evening MPs,
Welcome to the very first Model House of Commons Update for the Nineteenth TSR Parliament. If you are reading this message, you have been successfully accepted into the MP usergroup.

If you don't know what you're doing, then don't worry! Just get in touch with me and I can give you a better outline of what you actually do as an MP. In a nutshell, you will get an update from me most evenings. In these updates there will be links to the new discussions for that day, and then you can just head along and give your opinion like you would on any other TSR thread. Some items might eventually go to the polls, in which case you will need to cast your vote - this action is compulsory and you'll be monitored, but don't worry, it takes seconds and you have plenty of days to do it with plenty of warning. Again, my inbox is always open if you need some more information, hopefully your parties will have explained things a bit better though.

Tonight there is a new bill and a new motion.

    Bills

    B640 - GM Food Labeling (Repeal and Restructuring) Bill 2014 - 6 day(s) remaining

    Motions

    M234 - Motion on the England cricket team - 6 day(s) remaining

    Model House of Commons Update

    Evening MPs,
Tonight there is a new bill and our first vote of the term.

In most of the votes that are held, we will be keeping an eye on your turnout and giving you a bit of a kick if you fail to attend to at least half of them. This vote won't actually be recorded since it's a little bit different from the usual votes, but a high turnout is nice and it's good practice for you. You'll be given three options in each poll I give you in the future and they're pretty self explanatory.

The motion you'll be voting on today is a confidence motion in me which is being run by me deputy; it's asking you whether you want me to continue as Speaker or not, it's something we traditionally hold at the beginning of each term, it's a secret ballot and the results themselves remain hidden until the end of the polls. If you ever have any questions about voting in the future, feel free to contact me.

Division Lobby (Items that you must vote on)

    VMXX - Motion on Speakership - 4 day(s) remaining

    Bills

    B642 - Railways (Operations) Repeal Bill 2014 - 6 day(s) remaining

    B641 - Single Inflation Rate Act 2014 - 3 day(s) remaining

    B640 - GM Food Labeling (Repeal and Restructuring) Bill 2014 - 2 day(s) remaining

    Petitions

Petition: Choosing which GCSE's and when - 2 day(s) remaining

    Motions

    M235 - Motion on Royal Mail Share Sale - 4 day(s) remaining

    M234 - Motion on the England cricket team - 2 day(s) remaining

    Model House of Commons Update

    Evening MPs,
Tonight there is another new vote.

Your attendance on this one will be recorded, and this'll also be the case for pretty much every single poll you get from me from this point onwards. If you don't attend at least half of the votes in a certain time period then you might end up losing your party's seat, so please do what you can to keep up to date on your votes. You have 4 days for each poll, in that time, all you need to do is cast either an Aye, a Nay or an Abstention - so long as you do that, it'll be recorded and your seat will be safe (remember that simply being absent does NOT count as an abstention, if you want to abstain, you've gotta go and click that abstain button). If at any time you don't think you'll be able to keep up a solid voting record (maybe from exams, or a holiday, or anything like that) then don't worry, it's understandable, the best thing to do is contact your party leader, they can get someone to cover for you whilst you have a bit of time out and that way you're not going to be liable to miss your seat.

Division Lobby (Items that you must vote on)

    VM235 - Motion on Royal Mail Share Sale - 4 day(s) remaining

    VMXX - Motion on Speakership - 3 day(s) remaining

    Bills

    B642 - Railways (Operations) Repeal Bill 2014 - 5 day(s) remaining

    B641 - Single Inflation Rate Act 2014 - 2 day(s) remaining

    B640 - GM Food Labeling (Repeal and Restructuring) Bill 2014 - 1 day(s) remaining

    Model House of Commons Update

    Evening MPs,
Tonight there are quite a few new MPs so welcome all If this message has arrived in your inbox then you have been successfully accepted into the MP usergroup.

As an MP, you will receive a private message almost every evening from me. These updates will outline the debates and votes that are going on in the House. All you need to do is give this message a read when you can. We want you to engage in as many debates as you can, but there's no quota to meet, try to give every link a read (there will usually only be one a night) and then make a comment on as many as you have an opinion on. It works just like any other debate thread on TSR. You are also encouraged to write your own bills (law proposals) and motions (calls on the Government to get something done). I'd recommend talking to your party if you're interested in that.

As an MP, you will also be entitled to vote on certain items - your voting habits will be recorded and if you fail to attend at least half of the votes in a certain time period, you will lose your party's seat. But don't worry, voting literally takes seconds and you will get four days to do it; you'll never miss one if you read these updates properly. All you need to do to remain an MP is head along to the vote's link, and then cast a decision in the poll, either Aye, Nay or Abstain. So long as you do that, your vote is counted. Please note that failing to turn up to a vote does NOT count as abstaining, it'll count as an absence instead. You have to actually go ahead and vote Abstain to have your abstention registered, else it'll be classed as a case of you not bothering to vote and I'll be crying into a pillow for the night. At the minute there are only two votes in session, but there will be more as the term goes on.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Anyway, tonight, in addition to what we've already got going on, there is a new motion and an item in cessation.

Division Lobby (Items that you must vote on)

    VM235 - Motion on Royal Mail Share Sale - 3 day(s) remaining

    VMXX - Motion on Speakership - 2 day(s) remaining

    Motions

    Bills

    B642 - Railways (Operations) Repeal Bill 2014 - 4 day(s) remaining

    B641 - Single Inflation Rate Act 2014 - 1 day(s) remaining

Petition: Choosing which GCSE's and when - going to vote in a future update

    Items in Cessation

B640 - GM Food Labeling (Repeal and Restructuring) Bill 2014 - 7 day(s) remaining until item is automatically withdrawn

    Evening MPs,
As you've likely noticed, that daytime update experiment didn't last particularly long. I've been extremely busy over the past few days so things have gotten a bit too lax. Updates from here on in will be coming every day still, but the timings may be all over the place for a little bit. Bear with me on that.

Tonight we have a new bill and a result.
