i really tuck on this question.
find p and q such that f(x)=(x-2)(x^2+px+q)

And as far as I can see this question makes no sense - you need another equation for f(x) to find any values for p or q

yeah mate... I mean you have to give us an f(x) before we can help you...

If the question specifies f(x) then you can simply just go doing the equating stuff...

At least give us the full question, although from what I can see, you have got a factor, and quadratic which if factorized would give you the other two factors of the cubic polynomial?

If it is a factor then when you put it into the function (the polynomial), the outcome is 0
