this was a very badly worded question by edexcel, they didn't clearly state that the force at A would have still existed :cool:

they said it was removed but in a they said it tilt the log about d so this means wether the log is uniform or not it still did tilt it about d so you have to resolve it based on that .but I agree no one would concider that it's there,they should point out to that in the question

It wasn't badly worded, its a valid question.. its just a "trick" one which is cruel of them. You don't normally expect to have to incorporate the information from first question in such questions, hence it seems a little baffling...
