Re: University of Glasgow blether threadIndeed, I'm very relieved!(Original post by Beneb)
History exam results finally up.
Passed first year with 3As and 3Bs, which is fairly encouraging. -

Congrats!
Now I'm just counting down the days till I move back to Glasgow. 80 days, I think, which sounds like forever! Though I'm on holiday for 24 of them, so that's something at least. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
Do you guys reckon there will still be places available in Murano halls if I applied this week? Finally firmed Glasgow after months of indecision.
And has anyone lived or knows someone who has lived in Firhill Court? What's it like? Is it fairly quiet compared to Murano? Really tempted by the price. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadFrom what I can gather all Murano walls are paper thing. Nowhere is quiet.(Original post by The Remote Part)

Re: University of Glasgow blether thread20-25 students? I remember chatting to my 4th year MEng Aero on our 2nd year design project, she said there was like 13 MEng students. A fairly high drop out rate If I'm correct. There was something 120 of us in 1st year, there is no roughly 80 or so of us.(Original post by PerigeeApogee)
Not bad.
Not sure what percentage of the year gets firsts. I only know of 3 BEng firsts so far including myself, and I think there were maybe 20-25 BEng students.
Fair enough. If you know what you want to do and MEng won't help you do it, then BEng is all you need - was the same in my case.
Most people who do BEng though do it because they don't get the grades needed to do MEng, so at least the BEng competition isn't much :P.
I have everything I need qualification wise for flying (only 5 standard grades! :P) so I thought I'd just do the 4 years. Still got a year until the decision is made final though. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
My mate is on the Dean's List. What is it exactly? I know it's to do with how good you're doing with exams but is it updated every year? If you didn't achieve enough, you are no longer on the list and if you weren't on the list but your results are now good enough you get added? What do you need to get on the list?
I heard my mate going on about it but wasn't sure what it's all about. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadIs this something that happens across the university, or just in your department?(Original post by PerigeeApogee)
I've been on it each year, but the details of it have never been made clear. They started it the year I started uni and it is intended to be just something for high-achievement students to put on their CV to distinguish themselves.
I think anyone who finishes the year with a GPA of 15 and above is placed on it (i.e. half As half Bs), and since they give me a letter each year stating that I'm on it, I would imagine it is started as a clean slate each year. That would certainly make the most sense too... i.e. how unfair would it be if somebody did great in first year, then did terribly each year after that but retained their position on the Dean's list? -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadAh ok, thank you!(Original post by PerigeeApogee)
I couldn't tell you.
It happens across the whole of engineering (since Dean level is Dean of the school) -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadThanks for making it clearer. I got into websurf yesterday and all my exams results are now through for 2nd year, my GPA for this session is 15 dead on. I'll see what happenes.(Original post by PerigeeApogee)

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI've tried and failed.(Original post by PerigeeApogee)
Anybody know how to set up the uni wireless on android?
If you work it out please let me know. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI think the only way to get the old style IPSEC connections working for android involves rooting your phone since Google haven't gotten around to this request.(Original post by PerigeeApogee)

Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
Hello,
I hope that I will start studying this year in Glasgow Uni. I have an offer for BSc Computing Science, however, as I understand, I can choose up to 2 additional subjects (Math and Physics for example) during years 1 and 2 and moreover I can eventually choose them as my 'degree' and end up with BSc Mathematics or BSc Physics(or even combined)? -
