Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI've just got a job too. No idea how I'm going to survive third year. I'll be doing six history courses, a part time job, being on 4 committees inside uni, and two outside of uni (one of which I'm probably giving up in November if I can, but the other one, if I get the position, will involve trips down south fairly regularly for meetings) - I'm sure plenty of people manage to juggle all that, but as I'm aiming for a first and I want to do all my committee duties properly, it's going to be a challenge.(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)
I desperately need a job but am going into third year ... so is my flatmate. She's had a job for ages though and can't afford to give it up so I hope I can balance honours with hopefully finding a job

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadWhen did you sit them?(Original post by LSD)
Got all my results back at once tonight, how's everyone else doing with them?
I've had sweet FA back and I did them over a month ago

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadMine where between the 26th april and the 11th may, and I got all of them back tonight at once. But I'm in 2nd year life sciences and the majority of most of the exams were MCQs and so get marked very quickly by a machine :P(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)

). My brother got a 2:i last year with a job so it can be done, but I'm nervous

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI think the important part of the sentence is 'CHOICE to do six', and also I've written it in a way that looks as if they got the question on the same day they wrote it. They knew the deadline ages in advance and had a choice of multiple questions but they could hand in all of them and the best marks were what was taken. I definitely remember this happening though,or maybe I'm going mad in my old age.(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)

It's just part time and the hours and perks are pretty good.

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadOK. Thanks. I hate having more than one thing due for the same day though ;____;(Original post by Norton1)

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI have checked with someone that did English and she says it was usually four at a time. Enjoy!(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadThere are quite a few jobs going in branches of the sausage roll shop I work in, especially now as people quit to go home from uni. Though I work in the southside so I've no idea how many jobs are going in the west end.(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)

I feel so useless though as I struggled working 15 hours this exam time, while my brother got an MEng working 25 most of the year, with 2 hours travel time

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadI'm panicking about this. I've had the same part time job since I was 14 and I need to work a particular number of hours to actually be able to afford travel to uni(Original post by ArcadiaHouse)

Going into 3rd year and balancing 20-24 hours a week working is completely filling me with dread
Don't want to/can't give it up though. Drat!

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadHow long can the overdraft fairy last though? 2/3 months? 4/5 if you are very prudent?(Original post by Norton1)

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadJust the loan I was entitled to from SAAS and working during the holidays. I basically managed to pay it off in full each Summer and have a bit left over. I would run it up to the limit by the end of May and then work it off again.(Original post by Dand218)

When I did have part time jobs it was smaller but I still used it. I think you just need to not be an idiot about it, I couldn't do a 24 hour work week as well as Uni. But I knew I had to have some sort of budget. If you think about it a £1000 overdraft gives you £100 extra a month which is a pretty big difference. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadOoh where do you work & how do I apply?(Original post by conway!)
