Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
I heard that the SRC and the university weren't going to bail them out, but maybe they have. I blame Subway and Costa. Most people go for them and the GUU doesn't get the full profit back, just a rent. The uni would also have to expand the QMU which would cost a hell of a lot.

Re: University of Glasgow blether threadSo you can still get into the GU without your card.(Original post by sharvie)
I joined the GUU, today and handed in the form but the guy just gave me a Temporary Membership Slip.
Does the membership card come in the post and what's the point in giving me the slip? Sorry for the silly questions.
From what I can remember your pick your membership card up from the Porters Box. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadJeez how many times have I heard this!(Original post by Student2806)
Go to the Porter's Box next to the shop for the GU. Not sure about the QM tbh.
You can only join one though anyway.
You can join both unions because
1) The QM have nothing in their constitution about it
2) The GUU do, officially you revoke your GUU membership if you join the QM
but...
The member lists are not exhanged, so they wont find out
and
even if they do, the GUU wont do anything because then they lose a member.
Also you join the QM in the general office on the 3rd floor, the GU at the porters box. -
Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
I'm pretty sure the unions will never close down. The profit made by the uni by having 2 unions probably far outweighs the money lost from the unions themselves.
Anyway, who would go to a unionless university?
Who else is fired up for Daft Friday 2008 ohhhhh yeaaaah -
Re: University of Glasgow blether threadSame. Did it in 1st year - it's worth doing once just for the experience, but £30 + tux + drinks is just too much considering my current financial position and the fact I have a compulsory field trip at easter that's going to cost at least £150(Original post by FyreFight)
12 hour Cheesy Pop, definitely.
£30 to get into the GU? Not bloody likely.
Anyone go to Alphabeat last night? -
Re: University of Glasgow blether thread
Hey guys! I used to post all the time on the freshers/2008 applicants threads but I kinda lost touch with TSR when I got here! I'm Stacey, I live in Murano and I take English Lit, Economic and Social History and History at the moment. Feeling a bit sick at the thought of having to actually do work for these silly exam things...and! Im going home before Daft Friday...I'll hopefully go next year

of course
