I thought the European Union was set up to prevent a major war in Europe like WW1 and 2?

So obviously as such a war seems unlikely the EU is deemed surplus.

that was the european steel community thing. the eu is a protectionist beaurocracy concerned only with lining their pockets through introducing ladder safety regulations.

The Environment can best be tackled by the free market, but, if Europe didn't exist - why would environmentalist policies cease?

Either they are democratically elected by the Union as European Unionists suggest, in which case they'd exist anyway, or they are imposed by the European Union... which is not democratic.

The swastika is now associated with facism and white supremacy and I find it offensive that it would ever be used.
Not that I think that communism is much better since it would never work and inevitably leads to repression.
