What is the weather thing you are using?

Does anyone know a good way to get BBC breaking news feeds straight to the desktop? other than on the widnows sidebar..(for vista)

The Yahoo Widget and Google desktop look interesting - any thoguths on these and whether they are better than Vista or not? they can both display system info and stuff it seems so possibly better than systemtrix..

Damn you for having a good (Apple) desktop AND a good laptop. I've only got a crappy Xtra Precious (XP) machine. I hate XP.*comes over and steals both*

Did you see the feed in my desktop above^^?

If you like something like that (it can be changed into uk news, sports, entertainment, politics, technology news very easily through the menus)

then:
1) Download the Yahoo widget engine http://widgets.yahoo.com/
2) Install it
3) Then download this BBC News widget http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=38012
4) Install the yahoo widget engine, then open up the bbc new widget you just downloaded and it will appear. To make it show up only on your desktop, right click on the news feed and go on options. Then on the view tab set it to bottom. The settings to what feeds you see can be accessed in this menu.

Yes its probably more fuss than there official news feeder but i just like widgets :biggrin:

The "weather thing" I'm using is Vista's sidebar weather gadget.

I'm actually suprised about the amount of Vista desktops I'm seeing. Wouldn't expect a jump to it that quickly.

i think its more the fact that anyone who shelled out for vista is more likely to want to show it off.

i personally dont care for aero that much. but then im spoiled for choice with beryl/emerald

Its a Yahoo widget. Am loving the widget engine since i got it :biggrin:

4) Install the yahoo widget engine, then open up the itunes widget you just downloaded and it will appear.

-Its got some cool settings. One of them vocally announces the song title and artist with a robot voice :eek:
