That's how I'd rank them according to reputation... Exeter has a lovely campus, but some expensive accommodation. The Kent campus isn't great, the buildings are a bit grey...
University of Bristol AAA
University of Exeter AAB
University of Reading ABB
University of East Anglia ABB
Queen Mary, University of London (Economics and Finance) BBB
Durham - good reputation, generally nice accommodation but a small town (don't know if that's what you want)
Birmingham - pretty good rep., nice city
Nottingham - pretty good rep., i like the uni.
Exeter - good rep., apparantly quite middle class (?), nice accomodation, good nightlife!
Lancaster - very small town! (con)
Bath - not much there i think, quite historical place, good rep.
Southampton - okay rep., i dont like the city though
Essex - dont really know
Kent - okay..
Royal Holloway - middle of nowhere! dont go!
Surrey - live here and my brother goes there so i like it! (: nice uni., okay rep., generally amazing grad. prospects, campus, lots to do in the town, nice union
Hull - dont know
Sussex - again ^
Manchester - good uni., not campus, big city but the accommodation was quite far away from the uni and i didnt really like the area. very ethnic-y shops and stuff.
Obv. this is just my opinion from where I've vistied(/lived), invest/borrow from a library the Tims Good Uni. guide for league tables, it's really helped me (: happy choosing
You should try unistats.com it tells you what % of graduates on teh course go into employment with their degree. It also tells you all kinds of statistical info regarding specific subjects etc, at specific uni's.
I already have Bristol down... I was thinking of Loughborough... what do you think of it?
I was attracted to it at first because it's really campus based and it looks great, so does the SU. But tbh, even though it's like 12th in the times, it's rep isnt a patch on the likes of Bristol. Its not close to a big city either which put me off.
I'm not sure if i'm going to apply to Bristol though. The only doubts i have there are : loadz of stuck up people? apparently? and also may be full of boring oxbridge rejects?

Set my mind at rest...
I hope not... lol I like Bristol, I'm trying to go somewhere where it has a good rep but not bump into oxbridge rejects but my friend said as well there are snobby people there but... might as well take the chance, But I love Reading University... but that that's like a BANNED WORD in my house and within my family
I dunno why they don't like it, I loved the city and the campus and the accomadation only thing is that its a bit far down on the table....
I need help.... on picking my fifth university...
I have a list of Universities but I can't pick one
I'm doing Economics at University...
and I just want a University that is
Campus Based (want it to be but doesn't have to be)
Good Accommodation
Has a good reputation
So can everyone rank these in order of best place to go and worst place to go... you would be helping me out...
Durham
Birmingham
Nottingham
Exeter
Lancaster
Bath
Southampton
Essex
Kent
Royal Holloway
Surrey
Hull
Sussex
Manchester
I know it seems long but You would be helping a confused person out... I need opinions... Please
As Peachmelba said: check out my sig threads :
i)TAELT 2009 course competiveness
ii) Econ PS guide for how to write an econ PS
iii) Econ Uni guide for how to select your 5.
What subjects are you doing at AS and A2?
and what actual and predicted grades do you have?
i.e. currently there is a massive gap between Bristol and the rest of your choices. and that "can't" be correct.

If you check out my threads one thing you will see is that Reading is in clearing for economics. Hence do you need to use one of your 5 options on it?

Not sure about it's rep for economics though!
Well on TAELT Kent is in a group BBB.2 (300 points) with 34 other unis above it.
Oh and 54% of Kent econ students have below 280 points.

Well... You've given me a thought I need 2 good Universities... so I am going to put down UCL as well as Bristol... because looking at your threads and the prospectus... and the entry requirements , I think it would be a good decision
but the University I'm removing is not Reading it's Queen Mary, I know it's in Clearing but I really liked the University... I know that's not good but i just liked it
I actually don't know my predicted grades... my teachers refuse to tell any of us... I know that Economics my teacher said he'll predict me a B and Chemistry she did not want to tell me and My maths teacher isn't telling anyone....
I've been doing research all this half term so... I know where at...

weird re: not tell you the predicted grades. That is emmensely unhelpful in terms of knowing where to apply to. Consider getting your parents to extract the info. So at AS what were your actual subjects and grades?

Then you should be looking at the AAB.2 group and down. i.e. with those grades you have virtually no chance with the AAB.1+ unis. (such as Bristol, Notts, Durham etc) (unless you have a mjor mitigating factor).
sorry, but Paulwhy is absolutely right. Economics is an extremely competative course and to be honest, I wouldn't be applying to Bristol, nottingham or durham with those grades, or queen mary, and certainly not UCL. I know that universities offer places not based on grades, and based a little on interview and ps's, but don't set yourself up for diappointment.
bath would probably be good (it's a v.good uni and not historic as somebody above said-it's a campus), southhampton for a nother top iuni and manchester if you want to push your luck.
best of luck though, but choose wisely-by coming on TSR it shows taht you are

I know your helping me... and thanks for sinking my dreams of going to Bristol but I just put it down because I wanted to put a really good university... I wasn't really going to put down UCL but again thank you for pointing that out but Queen Mary are quite low down so I don't understand why your saying I shouldn't apply to it but thank for your help... basically I have no chance at any good university for economics...
