Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008Thats only half the qoute...(Original post by jelly1000)
Schumacher has said he thinks Hamilton could beat his championship record.
Asked by the BBC if he believes Hamilton could do it, the German said: "I would say, absolutely, yes.
Schumacher told the BBC's Inside Sport programme: "I would say, absolutely, yes [Hamilton could win seven titles].
"Nobody thought, even me, that I could beat [Juan Manuel] Fangio. Then I did. Records are there to be beaten".
The 39-year-old said losing the record would not bother him.
"I'm quite relaxed that one day it will happen - whether it's Lewis, whether it's Massa, or whoever.
"It might be someone of the current or of the future that could or will do it. But I've got no problem about it."
Hes basically saying, yes lewis could do it, but so could anyone else. -
Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008I did read the whole article. The entire interview was in the F1 Racing magazine.(Original post by Untitled258)

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008My prediction for the race:
Kimi and Alonso to work together and take Hamilton out on the first lap, attacking him from both sides. Massa will then be in the lead. He'll be coming in for his final pitstop and Sutil will be nearby and take him out for revenge on Ferrari for two pitlane incidences and Monaco. DC will then end up winning the race with Button finishing second and last
(OK, that last bit with button might be a tad unlikely
).
Oh and one other thing - Hamilton will be disqualified from the championship for colliding with Alonso and Kimi at the start, despite the fact that it was obvious it wasn't his fault and he would have had nowhere to go. -

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008Hopefully Hamilton will get punted off at the start, and with a wet qualifying expected, the grid will be shaken up. Possibly Hamilton will be 9th or 10th and then get hit by some of the 'backmarkers' ahead of him.
However, on the evidence of China, Hamilton is in a great form, and will be driving a McLaren car that has been working on an unprecedented special Interlagos package for months. If anything, I would expect Massa to be well beaten this weekend, not only by Hamilton but by his team mate Raikkonen, too.
Massa cracked at Monza. There is no way back for him now, especially after the nail in the coffin that occurred at Singapore. I say that as a Ferrari fan, alas. -

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008We have a whole winter of that sickening bias to look forward when he wins the title on Sunday.(Original post by Untitled258)

Kimi wont race for anyone but himself, never has done. If he helps Massa then that will be coninsidence rather than team orders. Alsono still has an axe to grind though, and as hes in no position to win himself I can see him being put on a light fuel load and allowed to go and have fun at the front of the grid. He would certainly love to especially as the form the Renult has had lately. -

i dont understand why so many people dislike hamilton from this forum? or even want him to loose this weekend?

mclaren (british) + hamilton (british) = even more british?
i dont feel any british pride here :s
Anyone who has watched it for many years knows hes been given the best car from day 1 and hasnt ever had to work for anything. I have far more respect for some of the drivers sat in the lesser cars, who joined F1 at the same time as Lewis, yet who put in results way above what "should" happen. Lewis has been built up by the media into some "super driver" when in fact if he ever raced against any greats his arse would be wooped all over the place. There have been numerous prime examples this season and last of Lewis' immaturity and stupidity behind the wheel. I dont think hes ready to have the title. -
Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008Why do we need British pride? He's not racing for Britain, he's racing for himself, the fame, the money etc.(Original post by shyamp)

If he's so British, why didnt he stay in Britain? Just moved to Switzerland, how lovely. He's obviously too good for us! -

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008Vodafone McLaren Mercedes is actually a registered German company, AFAIK. And F1 is not about nationalities or patriotism. If that's what you want, then try A1GP.(Original post by shyamp)

Hamilton is not doing this for the country, he is doing it for himself. Once he wins the title on Sunday, he will spend the whole winter telling us all how great he thinks he is, when as a matter of fact, true followers of the sport consider Hamilton's biggest contribution to F1 the time when he was hung from a crane and pretended to fly with wings in a lewd PR stunt. Nobody has seen anything funnier.
Hamilton's on-track forays have been hyped up by the British media beyond belief. The rest of the unbiased media are sometimes praiseworthy towards him, but ultimately they do not consider him on the same level as the British press. Remember the British press regularly hyped Amir Khan, Audley Harrison, Andy Murray, Tim Henman, Michael Owen, Jenson Button, Andrew Flintoff, Paula Radcliffe etc. and we all know they are losers of the highest calibre, despite winning a few marathons or meaningless tournaments. Some of them haven't won anything (Khan, Owen).
The only true English winners of recent times are Steve Redgrave, Matthew Pinsent, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Johnny Wilkinson, and Jonathon Edwards, and even he's scraping the barrell. -
Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008Just because we're British doesn't mean we have to support a British team/drivers(Original post by shyamp)

It's peoples free choice who they support, it would be a bit stupid if you HAD to support people from your own country. Yes, I'm a McLaren fan (and have been for a good few years) but I didn't say 'Oh I'll support them cause they're British'.
In other sports you don't support someone, just because they're the same nationality as you- therefore it shouldn't be expected you support someone, namely Lewis Hamilton, because he is British too. -

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008It would be funny if the stewards finally gave Hamilton his deserved 10 place grid penalty for always deliberately turning up to the Drivers' Parade late and making the 'mortals' wait for him to stroll up to the truck with a smarmy grin on his face.

Hopefully the FIA will be out in force to make Massa's dream come true.

Re: The Final Showdown: Brazil F1 GP 2008
If we are going to go on about national alligances then mine will always lie with jenson, over DC over Davidson, way over lewis.
Even if AD is gone and DC is going.
Also i see lewis doing a villenerve. Nearly wins in first season, wins in second season, not so great 3rd, end up in a crap car and is nowhere, ever. As far as im concerned you need to be fast in a lower team then go up to a top team, just like Shuci, Alonso, Kimi, Massa, and like the likes of Vettel will do, to be considored a top driver. Not be groomed from a young age to be a walking PR machine by a top team who have moulded him and the car to fit around him.
