You're trying to show f(x)=x has a root in the interval, not f(x)=0 has a root. Hence you need to show that for some value in (3,4), e^(x-2) -1=x or, e^(x-2) -1 -x = 0. The second function shouldn't be labelled f(x), since it is f(x)-x that you are trying to find the root of.
