Well I am currently awaiting an interview list to be posted by the external examiners on who will be interviewed regarding their degrees prior to the results being posted later today.

Going by their orginal time of publishing, we are currently 1 hour 42 mins behind schedule ... I've nothing to do here in Uni except sitting and wait.

It's the hill you take to get up from town and leads you up to right by Morrisons on the side of the valley on which Main Arts and most of the accommoation is situated. It's fair to say that it's best climbed when drunk (which as someone who is teetotal, is not good news for me!).

    Thanks

For your first year, how did you all choose which hall you were going to apply for? Did you choose for size, location, or another reason?

I just picked the one that sounded nicest, but I got handed the worst hall possible, so you're not guaranteed the hall you choose, but this year and next year I got the halls I asked for.

So you've chosen to stay in halls throughout your time at Bangor, and not moved into a house?
I'm hoping to choose either a 2008 or 2009 hall, medium sized, with a name I can pronounce!

    Hey,

I assume you want to stay on friddoedde site then? (badly spelt)

The new halls are really nice but are a lot more expensive than other halls on site which are a bit older, although the kitchens do in them need some tlc as things are of that age that start breaking.

All the new halls are all of the same standard so it wont make a difference which one you choose, the fire alarms scare the hell out of me tho... but then I guess it serves me right for falling asleep in a friends kitchen. However some of the new halls are located next to the entrance road/ student bar so it may be wise to avoid them. I would suggest Enlli, Peris or Alaw on this basis although they will be a year older than the brand new shiny ones.

    Hope that helps

Yes, I do want the Ffridd site, sorry, should have said. Just out of interest, which one is the "worst hall possible"?

I dont really know which greeny meant but I think it varies from year to year, this year it was probably bryn dinas which has about 20 fire alarms at about 2am. I think it really does depend what type of person you get in your hall.

In my first year, I got Emrys Evans (which has now gone), which was disgusting in every way, and had fire alarms literally every other night.

I'm doing Music. I applied in Summer 2008 and took a gap year, so I have an unconditional firm offer from Bangor. I've visited twice, and I absolutely love it. I've got some friends who went without taking a gap year, so they're the same age as me but a year ahead, and they love it too. I've chosen Llanddwyn, Glaslyn and Adda.

I got Emrys. Though my nightmare with being housed there was more to do with the people not the faculties. The first corridor I was on was hell on earth, my second was fine.

Personally I didn't care. It was a huge room with lots of storage, I had a parking space right by the cafe which I could see from my kitchen window and which luckily meant that I could go off for hours, come back and nobody would be in that spot despite the parking problems elsewhere.

There is a lot of negative things spoken about Emrys but my experince (after I got out of that 1st corridor) wasn't that bad too be fair. It cheap but big and to me that was more important to me than the fact the bath was unusable.
