Default Gaps year programmes/pre-university work experience

I'm going to study a non-law degree at undergraduate level, but then I intend to pick up law, not necessarily from a conversion course but down a more selective route (i.e. either an American JD or an English senior-entry LLB), and for those, experience with the law beforehand seem pretty useful for application.

I know about Pinsent Masons' work experience and gap year schemes, and Matrix Chambers' work experience scheme, but does anyone know of any others? I know I can apply for vacation schemes in the last year of my BA, but I've got a year before I go to uni (obviously if I get a gap year placement I'll defer) and if there is anything available I'd like to do it now.

What do Pinsent Masons do for the gap year scheme...can you tell me more about this? I've never heard of it :s

Also by vacation schemes do you mean 1-2 week placements or more like 3 month placements?

Does it really have to be legal?

Take a look at this ones http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki...ear_Programmes

I applied for one or two when I was considering a gap year last year.
