Is the concept of the nation-state no longer viable ?

Sovereignty - does it hold up a national level or has Globalisation and Interdependence trumped it? Does any state - except possibly P5 - really make its own way in the world?

Market-state -> the role of the modern state is merely to provide a stable environment for trade, business and commerce to flourish?

Nation - many states are truly multi-ethnic. Even those that aren't have much immigration. Is the USA a nation state or a state of many nations?
