Re: Your driver of the season.Probably found his zone in the car, or perhaps the last tracks suited him as a driver.(Original post by white_haired_wizard)
Why did Alonso really come on towards the end of this season? I'm curious to know. Just an extra push to put points on the board because the season-end was approaching?
Who knows? -
Re: Your driver of the season.
Don't agree with Hamilton at all. Look at Vettel, Alonso and Kubica. They are all in cars that are at best, mid-table teams, Vettel especially. They have all punched well above theie weight for large amounts of the season and deserve the praise. Just remember, if Glock hadn't slowed down then Massa would of won and Hamilton wouldn of pittered out into insignificance over the summer again. One corner out of the whole world championship has warped your view of a whole season, one in which Hamilton has made mistake after mistake after mistake.

Re: Your driver of the season.
Alonso, clearly. That guy can develop a car like no other driver around, possibly at the same level as Schumacher. The reason Alonso came on strong is because he was getting the car developed. Alonso is a lot of the reason McLaren went from 3rd best in 06 to the best car in 07. He's done the same again with Renault.

Re: Your driver of the season. If the FIA hadn't made stupid decisions, Massa wouldn't have won it even if Glock hadn't slowed down.(Original post by Captain Biggles)
Too many could-of-would've-should have in there.
We really can make these up all day

Re: Your driver of the season. When it comes down to skill I still stand by the opinion Alonso is the best driver on the grid at the moment, followed by Raikkonen when he gets in shape and puts it all together. Hamilton makes too many stupid mistakes to be called the master in the field.(Original post by Justintabib)
I second that. People may not like his attitude or character or whatever, and all these can be said about a lot of other drivers as well. But when it comes to skill and patience, he is still the master of them (the current ones) all. -
Re: Your driver of the season. To be fair, I agree with this, however as my 'driver of the season' I'd say he does not go under this title, in my opinion. For me, he has no likeability and his downright arrogant. Many people may say Hamilton is, and I'm leaning towards this train of thought as his career progresses, but no one can outstretch Alonso on arrogance.(Original post by BillV3)

On the other hand, his devilishness can't be argued with and he's getting it right somewhere.

Re: Your driver of the season.
Going to have to go with the flow of this thread and against the glory supporters. Though Sutil (of all people) impressed me at Monaco I think it was more luck and a bit of good strategy that got him to fourth before Kimi wiped him out. The confidence hit and a seriously bad car kept him at the back.
Vettel, on the other hand, was always lurking in the points area adding a bit of pressure (the "I don't want to be beaten by HIM!" factor) once he got into the STR3 and started making a bit of trouble at the front. I don't know how Red Bull and STR being the same company will affect him but I can see him causing havoc up there next season.
