I never asked what my predicted grades were. So I'm not really sure. The only subject I'm having trouble with ia English (they asked for a C in that) So I guess I'll be okay.

I'm pretty excited about September, now I know that there are other people doing the course. Glad I won't be completely lost.

I'm sure you'll be fine, and I know what you mean, it's nice to know we're not alone!

lol i did think you would think that, but I'm pretty new to facebook, so I didn't know how to tell you who I was  Oh well, sorted now!
We definitely should! We'll sort it all out when we first start I suppose. I'm dead gutted I'm not living at uni though, I'm proper gunna miss out, but I mean it's just silly when I only live about an hour and a bit away.
Same, everyone I know, including me, is proper bored of college now, and just fed up. I know my boyfriend is, it's driving him insane. Oh well, only another couple of months, same it's gunna be the hardest ones xD.
Oh, and I just thought I'd share, I filled in all the info on the student finance thing, a bit confusing mind. But ahh well. I think it said something about it you're applying for a NHS bursary, you're automatically applied for a maintenance grant or something? =S But don't quote me on that. So I'll send off my birth certificate and let you know how I get on!

I can't particularly advise you on accommodation, but listen to oladz advice :p: On the actual day [I went in Dec, I don't know if there's been once since?] we sat around in the lecture theatre for a while, and some woman played some videos to do with the actual university, and gave us some info and funding and that [didn't really tell us that much tbh]. Then we went and got some scoff and then we sat and just had a bit of a talk about orthoptics, Dr O'Connor just said the basic ins and outs, where an orthoptist would work and stuff [stuff you should know if you're applying tbh! ] then one of the researchers [he specialised in neurology] and just talked more about how the brain works and how that affects the movement of eyes and stuff and some of the research they're carrying out about it, and some optical illusions too and how they work. Then we went and split into two groups, one talking to some of the students and stuff, and the other talking to Anna. The students where just telling us about placements and that really. I can't really remember much about what they said, 'cept at first you're not really expected to do anything on placement, just observe and that, but more and more you learn what to do and stuff. And you always go on placement with someone else, so you're not on your own! =] And Anna said that where possible they always try and let you stay with family and that, to minimise expenses. Anna didn't say that much tbh, I remember asking her about how the timetables are set out, she said because it's a research department, some of the lecturers are mooching off all over the place, to the timetable is different every week. And then they had the campus and accommodation tours [I went to neither]. To be honest, if you have any questions about the university itself, you're best asking kiyoko, seeing as she's already there, and anything about the city centre, feel free to ask me and her, cause I'm not too far away =]
Sorry for the rant, but I'm just tryna give you as much detail as poss!
Also, I do remember reading somewhere there was another open day in Feb or Jan? So if someone could let us know if they found out anything different, that would be great!

Hey hey,

Yeah you didnt miss much on the open day, most of what hey saud can be found on the websites for orthoptics and the uni itself.

As for accomodation i wrote huuuuuge post befor about like wheres good to stay and stuff, check it out  I always say catered is better, you dont have to worry about getting fed, or being able to afford food haha and after a long day in uni u dont have to cook...but you can if i want as each halls does have kitchens on each floor.. so in my opnion caterd is much better! Gives u an excuse to get out ur room aswell and go meet people! AND if you butter up the canteen ladies you might get an extra slice of lasagne haha, funnily enough when we moved to our house in second year we actually ended up next door to a carnatic dinner lady! freaky!

But yeah, if you wana know anything specific just ask and i shall do my best to answer =]

Nope, it just went 'your personal Id number is .' I was like..oh, okay. haha. Email them and they'll probably sort it, but if everyone has emailed them they'll probably just send another.

Im so confused about all the finance stuff. Has anyone applied for anything yet? The NHS stuff is what most confuses me...how do we apply for our tuition fees to be paid? I found the application thing for the NHS bursary but theres loads of stuff on it i have nooooooooo idea about!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:woo: :eek3:

I've started to apply through student finance england [that direct.gov site] 'cause I didn't know if I was eligible for a government bursary as well as the nhs one, when I'd finished the application it says that they assess you anyway for government bursaries when you do the NHS bursary form, I dunno if this is the same for postrad though? And don't quote me on that! Thats the jist I got anyway. I keep looking at the NHS bursary form and putting it off, it looks horrendous and these finance forms always trick me into thinking I'm an immigrant, it's very confusing stuff! I think [again, don't quote me on it] that university sort course fees out? Or give our details to them and they send forms to us? For some reason I get the feeling we don't have much to do with that side of things, we just need to sort the NHS bursary. Besides, before we can even start the bursary form we need a student number or something? [if you look on the top left on the first page I think it's there] and I don't think we can do anything before we have that? So I'm kinda half waiting to get more information from liverpool.
College has been [yet again] no help with this sort of thing, because it's NHS funded and I'm not going studying medicine or law, no one cares  We got a booklet yesterday in form, alllll to do with student finance, what applied to me? About a 5 line paragraph half way though. It's no wonder we're clueless!!
I must admit though, I was on the bus to Liverpool today, and then 10 goes right past the uni and the hospital, and I was looking at all the students getting chuffed thinking 'that's going to be me next year!' =D But then I got gutted I'm not getting accommodation again :frown:
ahhh well
once again, sorry for the rant, you know how I get
