Hey if you did A levels, did you send any school reports (ie. midterms?!)?
I left High School a while ago, so I sent tanscripts, recommendations and certificates of the exams I did.
I think you would have to send school reports and predicted grades, i am not too sure, you should probably ask the universities which you are applying to. -
Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?Wow...that's surprising. They got into University of Toronto? Which course would it be?(Original post by Inquilaab)
I dont know how things are locally within Canada, but i have some friend who got into UofT with B/C averages while getting rejected from McGill/York-Schulich etc.
Ofcourse, this might have something to do with the huge Undergrad. intake of UofT.
It really depends on the faculty and the program as well. As you know, University of Toronto is a really big university.

Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?I don't think it's a necessity for the Faculty of Arts...but it's mandatory for Economics.(Original post by Inquilaab)
Im not sure about this but the website doesnt specify math as a pre-requisite for all courses in the Faculty of Arts..
This is my guess though...because I'm not sure. I think he should ask the admissions office for McGill University. They should know whether he needs it or not.

Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?I know I'm late but; i got my photocopied transcripts( IGCSE/AS/ PREDICTED A2 results) stamped by the school, then got teh envolope flap stamped by the school and sent them off. McGill seems to have accepted it as my minerva status is " Application processed and Ready for Review"!(Original post by Valour)
Hi netizens!
I went to McGill's website for about an hour or so but cant seem to find specific grade/subject requirements for their courses! All I found was that we needed a minimum of B,C,C or so but no specific course requirements!
Also i have another question, saw this on their website:
"You must arrange for your school to send McGill University an official transcript of your complete high school record to date. Transcripts should show interim grades for the current year for courses in progress.
If you have completed Advanced Level, Advanced Subsidiary, CAPE, Ordinary Level, GCSE, HKCEE, or CSEC, you must arrange for your school to forward a certified photocopy of the certificate(s) and/or Candidate Statement(s) of Results to McGill. "
Surely I can send a photocopied version to them by myself without asking the school to do it for me?

Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?
I see that a lot of ppl are considering UBC and as a current student at UBC (in the Science faculty) I think I can give u lot a lot more insight into the uni, the city and the programs.
UBC, although ranked as one of the better universities in Canada, isn't all its made to be. The campus itself is amazing, but because of BC weather, its miserable to be on during the fall/winter semester. Most likely all your classes will not be in one building so make sure your ready to be outdoors a lot (in the rain and snow). As for the programs, UBC is known for its science program whereas SFU is better known for business and arts. However, after talking to a lot of ppl, SFU's science program is considered much easier than UBC's so your most likely to have a better GPA at SFU. Another point is that UBC relies heavily on TAs and not on profs so be prepared to talk to some very ignorant students who think they know it all. There are some positives however, as most of the profs are quite approachable and since most of them are working on some sort of research, you can get a lot of experience working in their labs.
If i were allowed to do it over I would most likely go to SFU and not UBC, but thats a personal choice. I would suggest not looking at rankings, but actually talking to students from the specific unis you've applied to, because rankings are bias and are usually not done from the student's perspective.
Hope that has helped a bit.. -

How are the dorms/residences..and is the weather really that bad -
Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?Yes, the vancouver campus. Dorms and residences vary depending on year and how much your willing to pay. The first year dorms, very small and not that nice, but if you are willing to pay a bit more and live either at Marine Drive or Fairview, there actually quite nice. Dorm life can vary depending on roommates but in general theres always something going on (clubs, parties, games etc)(Original post by Inquilaab)

The weather, unlike eastern canada is which is usually very cold, is mild but it rains and rains and rains... west coast weather is varies yearly. Last year we had wind storms in september early october, then rain, then snow by late october. This year it hasn't snowed yet, but the rain is very frequent. I guess if you dont mind getting drenched and walking in puddles (since campus has major puddles) then the weather is alright since its not frigid. -
Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?Allright, thanks for that!(Original post by Harp35)

Re: Anyone going to Canada for university?
I have an urgent question. I saw this on the Ontario Application:
"Do NOT submit this application if:
* You have already applied to an Ontario university using the 2009 application (paper or web based).
Only one application is permitted per cycle.
All application fees are non-refundable."
DOES THAT MEAN YOU CAN ONLY APPLY TO ONE ONTARIO UNIVERSITY??? -
Re: Anyone going to Canada for university? No the OUAC lets you apply to several universities ( minimum 3 i think)..one application for OUAC= minimum 3 applications to universities(Original post by cando)

Re: Anyone going to Canada for university? No, u can apply to any amount of universities, initially 3, this just means, if you have already used the form to apply for 2009, u cant do so again.(Original post by cando)
