foundation civil engineering course

Hi everyone. Im considering doing civil engineering at univeristy but I don't have the a-levels needed so I am going to have to take a foundatin year. I don't really know a lot about civil engineering and was wondering what books would you recommend to give me an insight about what it is going to be like. Thanks in advance

Well, there aren't really any books which give you an insight into what studying civil engineering woudl be like.

You could read some textbooks which are related to the subject, but if you haven't got a mathematical/physicsy background you'd struggle to understand what they're talking about.

There's a good video on YouTube by the ICE. Someone posted it on here a little while back. That'll give you a good insight.

It is a broad subject and difficult to give a broad overview of

Many recommend the following book. I think it is alright but it is quite general and focuses on structures too much

Structures or why things don't fall down by J E Gordon

The videos I assume are
